My fingers glide across the keyboard, navigating through the labyrinthine layers of code.

The cryptocurrency wallet, the lifeblood of the family’s vast empire, is my responsibility.

Every transaction, every digital thread, I must safeguard it all. And right now, I’m staring at a chilling truth.

Failed attempted login attempts.

My heart skips a beat as I observe the encrypted logs, my trained eyes picking up the subtle signs of intrusion.

Someone is trying to crack our impenetrable fortress to steal what the Carlisis spent years accumulating. Panic intertwines with a sense of duty, urging me to act swiftly.

I jump out of my seat and rush towards the operations room, where the team is assembled.

They’re huddled together, engrossed in a heated discussion about the family’s latest rivalries and power struggles.

But I can’t let them ignore this threat, this breach that could bring everything crashing down.

“Guys, we have a situation,” I announce, my voice shaking with urgency.

They look up, their expressions a mix of surprise and annoyance at being interrupted.

“What’s the big deal, Emily?” Enzo scoffs dismissively. “We deal with threats all the time.”

At least now, he’s speaking to me.

I take a deep breath, steeling myself against their skepticism.

“No, Enzo, you don’t understand. These are failed attempted login attempts into the cryptocurrency wallet.

Someone is trying to break through our defenses. We need to take this seriously.”

Silence hangs in the air as my words sink in. Their eyes meet mine, but instead of concern, I see doubt.

Doubt in my abilities, doubt in the severity of the situation. I’ve always been the one behind the scenes, unnoticed and underappreciated.

But now, when the stakes are highest, I need them to trust me.

“Emily, you’re overreacting,” Marcus, the family’s enforcer, interjects.

“We have layers upon layers of security. No one can touch our assets.”

My frustration boils over, fuelled by the weight of responsibility and the knowledge of what’s at stake.

“Marcus, we can’t afford to be complacent. If they breach the wallet, it’s not just our assets they’ll take—our reputation and power.”

I plead with them, pouring every ounce of conviction into my words.

But their expressions remain unmoved, their confidence unshaken.

They see me as nothing more than a glorified tech geek, not as a vital member of the family, someone who understands the digital realm better than anyone else.

I stare at Felix. “Felix...” I whisper.

He looks confused, stricken. “What can we do about it?” he asks.

“I’m not an expert, Emily. And apparently, no one else in this room seems to think it’s a problem. How about you keep an eye on things for me and update me if something changes. Until then, there’s nothing we can do.”

Defeated, I retreat to my desk, surrounded by the cold glow of monitors.
