I dropped the spice into the bowl with the few hairs and the moondust.

“Grind it into the finest powder and sprinkle on a dandelion flower.”

As I ground the ingredients into a fine powder, Sarah squeezed my left hand.

Kristin held up the flower up over the bowl while I sprinkled it over the top.

Holding the flower up, I said,“Blow into the wind and let his binded powers rescind!”

Turning to Sarah, I chuckled. “Will you help me blow it? It’s so big.”

She winked. “Let’s do this.”

We both drew in a breath and blew. The three of us watched the dandelion fluff float into the air.

“Now we sit back and wait and see,” Kristin stated.

Sarah chewed nervously on her thumbnail.

“Were we supposed to think about Lucas at all?” Kristin asked.

When we both turned to look at Sarah, she swallowed. “I hope not.”

“Don’t worry, I was!” I said as I watched Sarah’s cheeks turn bright pink.

Lucas

Matt and I walked out of Nathaniel’s Restaurant and started toward The Common, a local park, since cutting through it would bring us back to the office sooner. I needed to check my emails before I headed back out to the dig site.

A gust of wind hit and pollen flew into our faces.

“Shit, that got in my mouth!” Matt started to make sounds with his mouth like he was spitting something out.

I blinked a few times and waved the air in front of my face. “Where did that gust of wind come from?” I asked, laughing.

“What in the hell!” Matt called out before he sneezed. A woman walking past us let out a little yelp as her blouse ripped open like an invisible hand had pulled it apart.

Matt and I stood there, stunned.

“Ma’am, your shirt,” Matt stating, pointing at her.

She glanced down and let out a yelp and started to quickly pull her shirt together as she practically ran away.

Matt and I both looked at each other.

“That was weird,” I said on a laugh.

“It sure was.”

We made our way through the park, and once we got back to the city offices, Matt stopped. “Do you hear that?”

“Hear what?”

He looked around then started to turn in a circle.

“Matt?”

“You don’t hear that high-pitched sound?”
