It was so damn soft.

“You sure you want to share a bed with me?” I mumbled to him, almost asleep already.

“Absolutely positive.” His lips brushed my forehead, then my cheek, then my throat, and finally my collarbone. “You want to get free of me, you’ll have to kill me and climb away from my cold, lifeless body.”

“If I kill you, I’ll die too. No climbing would happen.”

“Then I guess you’re stuck, baby.”

The soft term of endearment, used so sweetly, made my lips curve upward a bit. “I’ll survive.”

“Mmhm.” He tucked me closer, turning me a little so my back met his chest. “Sleep well, Nai. I’m glad you’re here.”

“Me too. And you too,” I whispered.

Just before sleep pulled me under, I realized I felt safer than I had in two entire decades. Maybe that should’ve messed with me—but it just made me really damn happy.

I didn’t knowhow much time had passed when I woke up. Teris was still breathing steadily, his chest against my back. One of his hands had wrapped possessively over my core, and the other was around one of my breasts.

The need to pee hit me hard, but I tried to ignore it. My sabertooth had probably been awake even longer than I had—he hadn’t slept when I was out in the cave, and we were both still adjusting to the new magic we had.

I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but my bladder was screaming at me, so I only lasted a few minutes before I tried to carefully slide away from Teris.

His grip on my core and boob tightened when I moved, and my body clenched when he dragged me back to him, erasing the measly inch I’d put between us.

“No leaving me,” he grumbled at me.

“I’ll come back after I pee.”

“No.” He pulled me even more tightly against him.

“I will literally piss all over your hand if you don’t let go of me.”

Teris squeezed my core, and I squeaked. “Go for it.”

I scoffed, and he chuckled, easing us both to a sitting position and then standing up. A moment later, he set me on the toilet, and stepped back to lean up against the wall.

“You can’t just stand there and watch me.” I tossed a hand toward him.

He focused his gaze on the ceiling, not even bothering to fight his smirk.

I grabbed his muddy pants with my toe, and threw them at him. He barked out a laugh as he side-stepped them easily.

“Get out, or we will never have sex again,” I warned, pointing at the door. “I’m not kidding.”

He flashed me a feral grin. “You’d get desperate and jump me.”

“How sure are you of that?” I shot back.

He studied me, still grinning.

I glared right back.

“Alright, I’ll give you this one. Eventually, you’ll be comfortable enough to pee in front of me, though. It’s just urine.”

He stepped outside the bathroom door—leaving it wide open. Since I saw him move out of the line of sight, I knew he wasn’t trying to watch me from outside the room or anything. Just being his normal, attractively-obnoxious self.

“It’s just urine, he says,” I muttered to myself as I washed my hands, after doing my business.
