“Sounds exciting.” She took a step away, giving me her nod of approval.

“Not always.” I thought about the day, the call Elena had made early that morning, her request more like a demand. “My sister is determined to take you shopping.”

“Shopping? Why?”

“You know the answer.”

“She wants to grill me on my father and what I know to start with. After she becomes very frustrated from learning nothing, she’ll delve into if I’m good enough for her brother, bombarding me with one question after another. She’ll do her best to make me feel uncomfortable because that’s her job as your sister. Am I close?”

The woman could make me laugh like no one else. “Exactly. I’m not forcing you to go. I’m hesitant given what just happened, but my enemy won’t do anything in broad daylight. That would be suicidal.”

“While I enjoy the large cage I’ve been placed in and all the sweet amenities, I wouldn’t mind venturing out every once in a while, even knowing I’ll be on a short leash.”

“You do understand.” I had such a strong urge to sink my cock into her sweet pussy that I almost bagged the meeting.

“Unfortunately, yes. Would you like me to pick you up anything in my travels?”

“No, but don’t think you’re getting to venture too far. I don’t want you anywhere near the Armenian territory. You’ll always have a driver and two other soldiers with you.”

“Hmmm… Sounds suffocating.”

I moved closer, gripping both her arms. “I’m serious about this. The peaceful wave won’t continue. Any sign of weakness and he’ll strike.”

“I’m certain your sister knows the routine.”

“Better than my brothers do. I need to ask you a question. Is it possible your father found out where you work?”

“It’s possible. I’m all over social media.”

“True.”

“These friends of yours found nothing at my condo?”

“No.” Maxim’s message had been short. Nothing had been found but he was curious as to what additional assistance was needed. That would come at the meeting. Fortunately, all six had been able to rearrange their schedules. Maybe because I mentioned a possible takeover attempt in one or more cities.

“He was my father and I refused to allow him to know where I lived.”

“Baby, you had your reasons.”

“I know. That doesn’t make the guilt any easier to handle,” she said, her voice distant.

“Understandable. If a package arrived for you at your office, where would it be?” Whitney glanced away as if she didn’t want to tell me. I gripped her chin between my thumb and index finger, forcing her to meet my gaze. “Whitney. My sister will be railroaded into prison because of a dangerous game being played. She doesn’t deserve the punishment any more than you do.”

“I know that. If you want me to make a phone call, I will.”

“That may be necessary but could cause alarm bells.”

“The train wasn’t due in until late today. My assistant and the other employees still think I’m on vacation.”

I thought about her suggestion, uncertain I was ready to open up that can of worms.

“You don’t trust me.”

“It’s not that.”

“Then allow me to call the receptionist. Right now.”

As I lifted my head, I sensed her desire to help. “Do it.”
