When we pullup to the house, Aria gasps. There is a long driveway with trees lining it on either side. The house is made of white stone and black siding. It’s surprisingly modern for being set in the middle of the woods, but the inside still looks like it’s been a long time since any updates were done.

I park the car by the front porch and grab the keys. Aria is already racing up the steps making her way to the front door. She grins as I unlock it, nearly bouncing as she waits to get inside.

As soon as the door is open, she heads inside and starts laughing. She shakes her head as she stares up at the popcorn ceilings before looking down at the nearly black floors.

“You know, the lime green paint in the living room really is a nice touch,” she says, laughing as she walks into the living room.

“Yeah, I was thinking that we keep the lime green. It pairs nicely with the red cabinets in the kitchen too.”

Aria’s eyes widen before she disappears into the kitchen. When I follow her, I see the tears in her eyes as she laughs. She looks over at me as her laughing stops, her grin growing.

“This is the ugliest house I’ve ever seen.” She loops her arms over my shoulders and stands on her toes to kiss me. “I love it. This is going to be the perfect house to turn into our dream home.”

I smile and kiss her again. Happiness flows through me as she leans into me. The house is one of the ugliest I’ve ever seen, too, but it was cheap. There is more money to put toward the renovations since I saved on the price.

“The lime green paint is the first thing to go. I want to do a nice, cool-toned white. Black trim and doors. White oak floors. Something classy and timeless,” she starts ticking off.

“I think I can make that happen.”

She smiles and looks around the house. “I love all the windows. Does upstairs have this many too?”

“More. You’re going to love it. There’s a bunch of land that we own too. Most of it is trees, but we can cut some down and do whatever we want with the property.”

“I think we should wait until after the investigation is over before sinking a bunch of money into the property. What if they decide that the property was bought with dirty money?”

I cup her face and kiss her softly. “We’ll only work on the interior for now. Once the investigation is over, and you feel ready, we can work on whatever you’d like.”

She nods and takes a deep breath, looking around at the kitchen again. “This house has good bones.”

“That’s what I thought when I viewed it for the first time. I looked around and I could see us raising our family here.”

Aria stares up at me, a slow smile spreading across her face. “We need to do something to celebrate.”

I grin and pick her up, holding her close to my body as I head for the stairs. “I might have an idea of how to celebrate.”

She laughs and holds onto me as I make my way to our bedroom. At that moment, I don’t think life can get any better.

EPILOGUE

Aria

One Year Later

“Have I ever told you how good you look in a tux?” I ask as Tyson and I stand outside the doors to the ballroom where our reception is being held.

He laughs and kisses me. His heated gaze trails over my body. “You really had to get a dress that makes me want to skip the reception?”

I grin and twist my body, showing off the sheer paneling between the lace details. “I don’t know. I think I look pretty good. Especially since we had a baby a few months ago.”

“You looked amazing while you were pregnant and you look amazing now. I just don’t want to go in there and have to share you for hours before I can finally have you to myself.”

He kisses me again as Damien’s voice announces us on the other side of the doors. Tyson smirks as he stoops and tosses me over his shoulder before carrying me into the room. Our guests are laughing, just as I am, as he puts me down.

Music starts playing and Damien comes over, stealing me for the first dance. I’m passed around to all of my brothers before I end up back with Tyson. He grins down at me, and for a second, I swear I see tears gathering in his eyes.

“This is amazing. I couldn’t imagine a better wedding. Can you believe that this is how we get to start our married lives together?”
