“Shit shit shit…did I kill you?” a female voice calls from above.

I look up and watch an angel slip down the hill towards me. Her white down jacket is torn, feathers flying every time she moves, and even though her blonde braid is messed up from the wreck, she looks absolutely stunning.

She crouches next to me, those blue eyes I saw during the crash now full of concern and worry. “Are you alright?” she asks, and her voice is like a salve to my soul.

I can only grin at her like a fool in response.

I may have a concussion, because even as she looks at me with concern, all I can think of is how her lips are a perfect heart, and I wonder if they’re as soft as they look. Her gaze narrows as she sees my smile and she stands up and folds her arms, color rising in her cheeks.

“What are you smiling at? You almost killed us both! What kind of idiot drives a motorcycle in a blizzard!” She scowls at me and huffs, throwing her arms in the air and bending down to check my head.

“Ialmost killedyou?” I laugh and wince when she prods a gash on my chin.

My sarcastic mouth will be the death of me instead of the wreck because I can't stop myself from grinning up at her as the color rises further up her cheeks. I want to see every expression her perfect face can make so I can remember her as long as I live. Even if it’s just a few moments more.

“Did you learn how to drive yesterday, darlin’?” I drawl. “Here's a hint, drive straight, not sideways!”

She rolls her eyes and folds her arms over her chest as she straightens. “Oh, not hurt enough to forget how to joke? Guess you’re fine after all, bye!” she snaps.

Walking away, her tight blue jeans hugging her hips make my imagination run wild. She’s got a thigh gap, the perfect little space between her legs to slide my—

“Stupid motorcycle idiots don't know their ass from the elbow in mountain weather…” she mumbles, thinking I can't hear her, and stopping my one-track mind with a jolt.

I laugh loudly and watch her turn to glare at me. Moon above, even her anger is beautiful.

“As if you’re any better, Princess…” I grunt as I pull myself to my feet and follow her, not wanting her to leave me just yet. I grab her arm and pull her around to face me. Having her this close I have to make a conscious effort not to just kiss her. My brain must be seriously damaged, because normally I’d never feel this way with a woman I just met.

“Don’t you dare call me that! Do you even know who I am? Who you almost killed? Of course you don't, you’re probably some dumb ass passing through just waiting for an insurance claim. Well guess what, greaser, I have way better lawyers that you could ever dream of! So don’t even think about reporting this because you will lose!”

“Wow, you sure you’re not a Princess?”

“What did I just say?” she hisses between clenched teeth.

“I’m just saying,Princess, that you act a lot like spoiled royalty and maybe you’re denying it just a little too much.” I hold up my fingers, pinching them slightly apart for emphasis and her eyes flare with anger. I lean forward, eyes roaming over her perfect face. “I don’t know who you are, but I’d like to. You ever ridden a motorcycle, baby?”

“Brain damage. That’s what it is. Nobody is this idiotic naturally.” She rips her arm out of my grasp and stomps away. I hear her boots click on ice when she reaches the road.

“Do you really think brain damage is the only way I’d flirt with you?” I laugh, scrambling up the hill behind her and standing to face her. She’s shivering hard, her tight jeans protecting her as much from the wind and snow as mine are.

“It’s the only way you’d be dumb enough to think I’d be willing to go anywhere with you.” She wrinkles her nose at me as if I stink, looking me up and down as her teeth chatter.

“Damn,” I say under my breath, running my hand through my short hair as I turn and look for my back. “Maybe ‘Bitch’ is a better name for you.”

“Excuse me?” she shouts shrilly, “Did you just call me a bitch?”

“If the shoe fits, babe, wear it.”

“You wanna see a bitch? I can show you a bitch…”

I turn and look at her, raising an eyebrow. “You’ll show me you’re a female dog? Or you’ll show me that you can be even more rude than you already have been?

“I am not a bitch or a dog!” she growls. If she had hackles she’d be raising them.

“So we’re going with ‘even more rude’?” I chuckle, walking up to her so our faces are just a hair's breadth apart. “Is this a scrap you really want to start, Princess? Because if fighting on the side of the road after an accident is what you truly want, I’m game.”

Her eyes grow wide with shock as she looks at me, and in the reflection of those beautiful blue orbs I see my own eyes flash yellow like a wolf. Fuck. Fuck me sideways. I turn away quickly, hiding my eyes and internally kicking myself for letting the wolf show.

“Dark Moon… I should have known…” she says so quietly that the wind almost carries her words away without a sound.
