I don’t take my eyes off her, but I hear the chuckles from my brothers around the table.

“Try it and see what happens.” Athena sneers, nostrils flaring, and I can’t help myself.

Without so much as moving her, I reach into my pocket, snag the cuffs, and do it. I snap a cuff to her wrist and the other to mine and lean into her enough without forcing her off my lap. “Now, what are you going to do?” I challenge.

Athena lifts her hand and opens her mouth to say something, but Twister speaks up first.

“That’s e-fuckin’-nough,” he says. “We’ve got shit to get sorted.”

“Fuckin’ cuffs.” Striker snorts and shakes his head, grinning like a loon.

“Shut the hell up,” I grunt and look back at Athena. “Be good,” I tell her, leaning back in my chair and pulling her with me. There’s no way I’m about to uncuff her, let alone let her get away from me. I have her right where I want her to be, and that’s where she’s going to stay.

“I talked to Stoney after we all finished last night,” Horse announces, eyes scanning the table. “He should be here . . .”

Before he can finish talking, the doors burst open, and in walks not just a pissed-off Stoney but Tracker, Blaze, Ranger, and Bear. Bear’s been going back and forth between the two clubs. He’s still a member of the Originals, but with his son, Rage, here, he comes here a lot to spend time with him and his kids.

“What do we know?” Stoney demands, eyes on Horse and Twister.

“You’re just in time,” Twister states, nodding in my direction. “Sitting cuffed to Brass is Athena a.k.a. Karma.”

Slowly Stoney turns his attention to Athena and takes her in with scrutiny eyes. “You claim you’re Croc’s daughter?”

“That’s what I’ve been told,” Athena snipes, curling her lip in anger.

Now this is about to get interesting because looking at her now, I can see the similarities even more. The only difference between the three of them is that Athena has vibrant red hair.

Bear steps forward, hand on Stoney’s shoulder, eyes locked on Athena. “Your mom was a clubwhore, wasn’t she?”

Athena stiffens at the mention of the woman and her lip curls in disgust. “If you want to call her that, then so be it, but she was an all-around whore who only looked out for one person and that was herself.”

Bear nods and cocks his brow. “Her name wouldn’t have been Lizbeth, would it?”

“Yeah, that’s her name,” Athena confirms easily.

Bear again nods and looks to Stoney, then Horse. “Lizbeth was one of the whores Croc used a lot. I remember her. She was constantly trying to please him in order to get him to claim her.” His eyes came back to Athena. “I remember when she claimed she was pregnant. He didn’t believe her. She was a liar. Told her to get lost. She was pissed and said he’d be sorry for not making her his ol’ lady.”

“Well, guess she never got to do that and took it out on me,” Athena mumbles. I’m willing to bet she didn’t mean for anyone to hear her say what she said, but we all did from the tension filling the room.

CHAPTER11

ATHENA

The tension in the room is so thick I could slice through it and still taste it.

“You want to explain that bit,” Stoney growls.

I’ve never in my life been this close to him. I heard he could be malicious, but I’ve also heard he is a family man. He doesn’t take shit from anyone and would gut a man for so much as looking at his woman or kids wrong.

It makes me nervous to be this close to him. Between Horse and Stoney, it’s too much. The two of them are the only blood family I have left, and I never intended for them to find out about me. I’m an idiot for not listening to Reap the first time and instead stuck to what I was doing. And because I’m stubborn, Reap went ahead and let the cat out of the bag.

“No, I don’t want to explain,” I answer Stoney and go to stand, but Brass keeps me seated in his lap, his arm wrapped around my waist. The cuffs are still in place. I swear to God, I will make him pay for cuffing me to him again. “For the record, I didn’t want any of this known and if you’ll get He-Man here to uncuff me, I’ll be on my merry way.”

Stoney’s face hardens, and Bear chuckles.

“Damn, that attitude, she can only be Croc’s daughter. Add that to the glare she’s got going on right now and you know she’s a fuckin’ Dane,” Bear says, laughing.

I remember him only from when I looked into my family to find out more about Croc.
