Page 24 of Brass's Surrender

Damn if the kid don’t know how to throw one hell of a verbal sucker punch. The last thing I expected was for him to threaten to kill me if I hurt his mother. Then again, considering who he was raised by, I shouldn’t have been surprised. Though I’ve got to give it to him, he’s definitely protective of his mom and loves her as much as she loves him.

I watch Jesse as he makes his way out the door before taking a moment to finally take in the apartment. I’m surprised to find the apartment looks to take up the entire floor. It’s spacious with a full size kitchen, a living area, and dining area. I headed for the hall, where I heard the sounds of water glancing in both directions. On either end is two doors. One leading to I’m assuming Jesse’s room, the other Athena’s. In the middle is a bathroom, but the door’s open.

I make my way into Athena’s room and take the time to look around. I find a few interesting things and take it upon myself to set them out. Then I toe off my boots, slide my cut off, and set it to the side on her dresser. I pull off my shirt next and take a seat on the edge of the bed, facing the bathroom door. Prepared for what I’m about to do next.

Now that no one is around to interrupt, I’m going to finish what was started earlier and while doing that, the two of us are going to get a few things sorted. I’m not a stupid man and I know to listen when someone tells me something. When it comes to Athena, I’ll be making sure to do everything in my power to do just as Jesse said. But also Raven. I’m willing to surrender to my feelings for Athena because I’m no fool. I know when I want something, and I know to go for it. Even more, I’m not stupid to see what Raven does. Athena is a part of me and always has been.

CHAPTER14

ATHENA

Shutting off the water, I sigh, feeling like a coward for taking off the way I did. It’s not in my nature to do what I did, but I needed to escape from the clubhouse, and the moment I had the chance, I took it. Not that any of the members of the club tried to stop me. They’d all given me a look as I left, shaking their heads. I didn’t care, and I didn’t stop to think about what they were silently saying.

Not until I step out of my bathroom with my towel wrapped around my wet body and find Brass sitting on the edge of my bed facing me.

“Where’s Jesse?” I blurt out, not moving from the bathroom entrance. I simply stand there staring at Brass, frozen in place.

Brass comes up off the bed and prowls toward me. “Jesse told me to tell you, he was going to be with Lucifer at the clubhouse.”

Damn.

I love my son more than anything, but he’s so much like Lucifer it’s not funny. The two of them are close and nearly do everything together. I guess you can say it’s kind of cute. If not for this moment, I’d think this, but not when I’m left facing off with Brass. I’d wanted to come, be with Jesse and pretend my ass wasn’t in the hot seat.

Okay, so I knew in the back of my mind Brass would come after me. I merely pushed the thought down.

My mind shuts out all other thoughts when Brass stops directly in front of me and reaches for my towel. He grips the edges and pulls it open, releasing the fabric and, allowing it to fall to the floor. One of his hands comes up, and he grips my chin between his thumb and finger.

“You ran from me,” he remarks gravely.

“I told you I would,” I whisper, meeting his gaze.

“And now I’ll have to teach you the error of your ways.” Using his free arm, he hooks it around me and pulls me flush against him, turning us and starts backing me toward the bed.

“Brass.” My lips part on a breath, and I’m unsure if I should tell him to stop this or plead for him to keep going.

Brass stops us and drops both hands. “You’re going to be a good girl for me, Thea. I’m going to take my time with you. First, you’re gonna take your punishment, then I’ll fuck you. But not before you understand, there’s no running away from me. I told you I’m not letting you get away from me. I won’t have you disappear on me.”

I open my mouth to speak but shut it when he reaches for something on my nightstand. I gape at the sight of the scarf. What is he going to do with that?

Without speaking, Brass brings the scarf up and places it over my eyes.

“Brass,” I whisper apprehensively after finding my voice.

“Shh,” he says calmly and slowly tightens the scarf in place, taking my sight.

I should be nervous, scared even, but with Brass, I don’t feel any of this. It’s as if no time has been between us for so long, and I feel safe with him as I always have.

With the scarf covering my eyes, I have to rely on my ears to hear Brass.

“Turn around,” he commands, his voice gruff and demanding. I can only imagine the look in those dark brown eyes of his.

Slowly, I do as he says and give him my back. A shiver rushes along my spine as his hands move, stroking, rubbing . . . my mind goes into hyperdrive with all thoughts of Brass and what he’s doing to me . . . here now, in this moment.

I love it, though I’m not sure I should.

Brass’s fingers grip my wrists, pulls them together behind me, and binds them there. I feel him move slightly, and a hand presses into my upper back. “Bend forward, Cherry. I want your cheek to the bed, legs spread, and ass pressed outward.”

Oh. My. God.
