Her voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard, and I cringed. “Yes, I’m positive. Now, could you please get on with it?”
The longer I stayed in Annaleise’s presence, the more I wanted to destroy things.

Bile rose into my throat at her touch, and I stepped back. “Sorry, Annaleise, I have some important business to attend to. Now have you got her phone done? Cormac can take it, and we’ll finish up. No need for you to stick around.”
Her eyes narrowed, and I swear if she kept that up, her face would stick like that, which would be comical. It would suit her sour disposition. I could only imagine if she was stuck in a perpetual state of narrowed eyes and pursed lips.
Now that was something I’d pay good money to see.
“Well,” she huffed, tilting her nose to the sky. Yeah, bitch, just keep thinking you’re better than us. “Just know we’ll be watching her progress and won’t hesitate to eliminate her if she compromises us.”
She was just fucking asking me to lose my patience.
I pinched the bridge of my nose before sighing. “You’ve made that abundantly clear. Thank you for your assistance. We will be in touch.”
Annaleise snarled her displeasure before spinning on her stilettos and stomping across the warehouse to where her driver awaited her.
