“Carrie said Kristen didn’t like any of the guys who liked her and that they never hung out with boys. I didn’t believe her at the time, but maybe something happened to Kristen while she was with this group.” I mutter.

“It would make sense.” He agrees. “And could be why she changed so drastically and started hanging out with Carrie, who is the opposite of Livy and Isabel in every way.” We step out of the woods and walk across the grass to the parking lot where we’re parked.

“When I get to Miranda’s, I’ll forward the email to you. Hopefully we can track down the kid who sat alone all evening and have a chat with him tomorrow.”

“Sounds good.” He gives my back a brotherly slap and starts walking off to his truck, calling over his shoulder, “Tell Miranda I said, ‘what’s up.’”

“Will do.” I swing up behind the wheel of my SUV, then send Miranda a message to let her know I’m on my way before I back out of my spot. Two minutes later she texts me back a single heart.

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

“Oh my God,” I breathe against Tucker’s mouth as he uses his hold on my hips to rock me down onto him as he rolls his hips up into mine. I might be the one on top, but it’s obvious that even in this position, he’s still the one in charge.

“Fuck, Miranda,” he groans quietly, moving his mouth down my neck to my breast. My core tightens as he pulls the tip of my right breast into his mouth and cups the left with his large hand, tugging my nipple.

Letting my head fall back on my shoulders, I soak in the feel of his powerful body under mine, his hard cock inside me, and his hands roaming over my body as I rock my hips forward and back. When he suddenly rolls us, I want to cry out in disappointment, but then his mouth captures mine, and he begins to slowly slide in and out of me. His hips circle on each downward thrust, rubbing against my clit. Encircling him with my legs, I look up at his gorgeous face that’s outlined by the early-morning sun peeking in from the edge of my curtains, and my breath catches in the back of my throat. Every time we’ve been together, it’s been hurried, frenzied, almost desperate. But not this morning. His thrusts are slow and lazy as his hands grasp mine, locking our fingers together, dragging them above my head so his body is flush against mine while his lips pepper kisses on my face.

I don’t want to cry, but tears begin to blur my vision as my emotions overwhelm me. I tighten my legs on his waist and my fingers around his, tucking my face into his neck.

“Look at me, Miranda,” he demands softly, and I shake my head. “Please, baby, look at me.” At his whispered plea, I let my head fall back to the pillow. His gaze roams over my face, and he curses under his breath, dropping his forehead to mine. “I’ve got you.”

He releases my hands and cups my face, smoothing away my tears as he makes love to me. As I start to lose myself to the onslaught of emotions and pleasure each gentle thrust brings, I know he’s falling right over the edge with me. Our mouths fuse together, and I dig my fingers into his sides, whimpering against his lips as I come.

The orgasm isn’t like anything I’ve ever experienced before. It’s slow-moving, like lava consuming me from my head to my toes, ripping away any of the last defenses I had up and allowing him access to every single part of me.

I would never have thought I could fall for another man so easily, but Tucker isn’t just any other man. He’s kind, honest, and as strong and sure as General Sherman—a mighty tree that’s been around for thousands of years. His body is slick against mine, and his heart is pounding against my chest as I come back to myself, locking my arms and legs around him tighter.

Rolling us, he never loses our connection as I fall against his chest.

“I work for the FBI,” he says quietly when our breathing has returned to normal, and our heartbeats have steadied. My muscles bunch in response to his confession. I don’t know what I expected him to say after experiencing something like that moment with him, but it definitely wasn’t that. “Miles and I were assigned after concerns about corruption were brought to the FBI’s attention. I … Fuck, I should have told you sooner.”

Lifting my head with my heart thundering against my ribcage, I look into his eyes. Even if his expression is guarded, his walls are down, and he’s just as vulnerable as I am in this moment. “So, you’re not a detective?” I whisper.
