Lance didn’t correct them, and I don’t want things to be any weirder than they are, so I leave it, and just carry on.

FIFTEEN

LANCE

It’s uncomfortable for me being around strangers, but Sienna knows them, and they have somehow got the wires crossed that we are a couple. The right thing to do was correct them—I chose not to say anything. Mostly because I was shocked senseless, then again, I can understand how they might have gotten the wrong idea. Nova might have omitted a few facts too.

“We really don’t do this often enough,” Brad says as we walk down to where the three boys are inspecting the boat at the end of the jetty. “I wish the kids had made friends before you were planning to move away.”

“Yeah.” I shove my hands in my pockets. “Nova has struggled to make friends. It’s not as easy as it was back in our day.” There was so much less to it back then. We just said ‘hey be my mate’ that was it.

“We homeschool, so other than at sports practice, they don’t get the chance. Andie is not a fan of the schooling system and I have to be honest, I support her. They are too bright to waste it on a system that isn’t preparing them for their reality and future.” I hadn’t considered it that way. My whole life centered around getting an education, going to an ivy league college, and that’s the only way to be successful. Brad is right, though—these boys are going to be living in a completely different world to us. “Is Nova going to a private school when you move?” he asks me.

“Yes, he’s the biggest reason I decided to move. Vegas just didn’t feel like the right place to be raising a kid. Sin City and all that. I wanted more for him.”

“I understand that it’s going to be a big change for him, though.” For both of us. “You are lucky Sienna is amazing with him. It’ll make it easier.” I want to blurt out that she isn’t going with us, that she and I are not what they think we are, but I stop myself. Because maybe we are. Or at least we could be.

I still don’t even know what we are—I just know I can’t take my eyes off her and just one look at her has my cock hard. “It’ll be a huge change for all of us.” The thought of leaving her behind nags at me, and I know my son is going to be heart broken. He has fallen for her as much as I have. “Boys,” Brad calls them, “what do you guys want to do for the rest of the day?” The three of them are colluding together as we walk closer. Giggles and smiles and little-boy plans are being hatched.

“Boat!” They say in chorus, we should have known that would be their first choice.

“Well, go get your swim trunks on and towels and tell the ladies we are going on the boat. I am sure they’ll join us,” Brad says and they race back to the house. We change direction and follow them, also needing to change if we want to hit the water with them.

“Are you ladies ready to get on the boat?” Brad says as we enter the enormous kitchen through the patio doors. Andie puts down the grocery bag she is holding and smiles.

“Sounds like the boys’ idea,” she says.

“You’d be right,” Brad replies. “Let’s change. We can unpack this stuff later on.”

“See you guys at the boat in a few minutes.” They disappear to the opposite side of the house from where Sienna and I are staying. Walking behind Sienna to the room we are going to share, I can’t help but stare at her ass. It’s right there—I can’t look at anything else.

She pulls a swimsuit out of her bag and slips away to change out of sight, like I haven’t seen almost all of her already. I quickly swap my travel outfit for a pair of swimming trunks, not my normal ones—my son told me they were embarrassing. I guess comfort comes second to his coolness in front of his friends.

Sienna comes out in an aqua-blue two-piece that makes my dick twitch and my mouth water. If I couldn’t already hear the boys yelling for us to hurry up, we wouldn’t be going anywhere. The urge to put my hands all over her is overwhelming, and she knows it. I can tell by the soft pink glow on her cheeks and the devious little smile she gives me. “Behave. There are kids here,” she says with a wink, grabbing swim towels and a sunhat.

“I cannot behave if you are wearing that,” I say. “Can you not cover up?” She giggles, shakes her head, and speaks.

“No, I can’t cover up. It’s hot and we are going on a boat. I don’t want a weird tan.” The thought of a tanned Sienna does dirty things to my thoughts. I better get them and my dick under control before we go out there with everyone else. I adjust my junk and grab a cap, so I don’t fry out on the water.

“How am I supposed to look and not touch when you look like that?” I whisper to her, and she turns around, slips her arms around my neck.

“You can touch tonight, after the kids are in bed. You can touch everything you want—later.” I am wishing for bedtime already. Can they all suddenly get too tired to go boating? Please.

The excitement, and noise of three boys bounding around thankfully distracts me from Sienna. Nova is overflowing with hyperactive energy, and I join in his joy, as Brad starts up the boat and speeds off into the lake. The boys all whooping and encouraging him to go faster. As he zigzags through the water, creating our own waves to play in, they get more excited.

I watch as Sienna is bounced around with us, and her smile is brighter than the afternoon sun. After a short while of speeding around and ramping the waves, Brad slows down and asks the boys if they’d like to try to catch some fish. “You are coming?” he asks and we all head to the back of the boat, while the two ladies make themselves comfortable in the sun.

Sienna is lying on her stomach with her sunhat on and her nose in a book. She loves to read. I often catch her reading while doing other tasks. She catches me watching her when she looks up over the top of her book. I’m sure she could feel me watching her.

“Dad,” Nova calls and I have to look away. “I think I got one!” He’s yanking at his fishing rod, trying to reel in whatever has made his line taught. I step behind him and put my hands over his, not wanting to take away his moment. “Is it a fish?” He’s asking as I help him reel it in slowly.

“I think it might be,” I say. “Let’s get it on the boat and see.” I help him pull and reel. Whatever he has caught isn’t small or making it easy on him. The other boys are cheering him on and seem to have forgotten their own fishing rods. Brad leans over the back of the boat to see if it is visible yet.

My son is beaming and loving that he is the first one to catch anything. His new friends have made a huge impact on his confidence, and I can see why Sienna pushed for us to come this weekend. It was for these moments. “Oh wow, Nova.” Sienna’s voice makes my heart beat faster, and she joins the cheer squad egging him on. I hope this is a fish, not an old tire. “Don’t give up.” She encourages him.

We finally get whatever he caught close enough that we can see it just under the water's surface. It’s a fish, a rather large one too. “Way to go buddy. Look at that.” I help him as it gets close enough to the boat for Brad to net it and haul it up onto the boat.

“It’s so big!” Sienna squeals as the fish flops around on the deck, “You caught that, Nova.” He’s loving the attention and also the fish. I am secretly hoping that Brad makes him put it back and no one suggests eating it. I wouldn’t be able to swallow it. Seeing my food alive is a hard pass for me.
