They’ve heard me say over a million times that I need my caffeine before I can deal with the day, and it’s become tradition that they allow me at least two sips before they start in on me for the day.

“She can’t have coffee, princess.”

My focus flicks over to said man who is stating that he’s denying me coffee and his blue eyes meet mine.

Um, no.

That’s definitely not going to fly, for one. And two, unless you want to see ragey-bitch Molly every morning, I’m going to need that black gold.

“Why not?” Lark chimes in for me, skipping back over to the table so she can continue her breakfast.

“Because she’s—” He stops on a dime, alluding to the fact that they don’t know of my condition yet. And I can’t say that I’m not happy about it, because I’d like to be there when we tell them. “She’s…jetlagged.”

My brows clench as Bria breaks away from me to join her sister. “I’m fine.”

Kai shakes his head at me. “Can’t.”

My eyes narrow in on him as I stalk toward him on the other side of the kitchen island. One of his tatted arms is propped on the edge of the counter, giving me an eyeful of his black ink and how dangerous it makes him look.

But what’s super attractive about this whole scenario is that he’s in a kitchen, with his girls, making breakfast and looking hot as hell doing it.

“Yes, I can,” I counter matter-of-factly.

He waits for me to get closer before he mutters, “I don’t think pregnant women can drink coffee.”

“This one can,” I retort again. “And you’re not going to keep that away from me, Wolfe.”

Kai frowns. “Baby, if it’s going to hurt you and the baby—”

“Women in myconditioncan drink coffee. As long as it’s not in excess.”

“It’s always in excess,” he claims with a small clench to his brows. “You’re an animal with coffee.”

I scoff, because I am. I’m the definition of a coffee snob. “Am not. And since I haven’t been sleeping well the last two weeks, I need it.”

“Whose fault is that?” He quirks a brow and I want to punch him in the arm, but refrain, keeping my locked stare on him because I’m going to get what I want out of this argument. “One cup.”

I roll my eyes and begin to amble back toward the girls so I can sit with them while they have breakfast, but Kai catches my hand and laces his fingers with mine.

“Onecup, Molly. I don’t want any unnecessary risks involved.”

My heart melts a little bit at how sweet he’s being right now but, in my cranky state, I can’t fully make it so that he’s not worried about it.

It’s these hormones that are creating a monster in me, I swear.

“Whatever makes you…more comfortable, sweetheart,” I coo with my unamused look directed at him.

Kai smirks at me. “Be pissed all you want. It’s my job.” I snort a dismissal at him because I’ve been lacking quite a few things around here lately, and now I’m having coffee and dick withdrawals. “Come out with it then. What’s wrong?”

“You’re a tease, Kai Wolfe,” I chide lightly, making sure to keep my voice down. “I come home and you’ve barely put your hands on me.”

“I put my hands all over you last night while we were in the shower.” He says it so innocently that, apparently, this baby and I are choosing violence every morning.

“You’re an idiot,” I claim evenly, earning a smile from the man who thinks this is funny.

“Is it true that pregnant women are extra horny too?”

My nose scrunches. “Please don’t use that word.”
