This woman is going to be the bane of my existence and apparently I’m gluttonous for mental misery.

There was no real reason to hire her. I didn’t owe her anything, no matter how she tried to twist it in her favor.

But those damn lips and that red hair got me all fucked up the night we were together. It made me make the choice that I’m going to have to deal with for as long as she stays.

Or as long as it takes to fire her ass.

The extra testosterone in the house is driving me crazy and throwing off the balance of my day so I amble upstairs to kick his ass out.

If she needs help, I’m here. She didn’t need to bring some wannabe skater with short blond hair to help her.

Getting up to the top, I hear Molly laughing, which only makes my fingers curl into a fist.

This is already getting ridiculous, Kai. What the fuck are you doing?

“Hey, now,” I hear her scold lightly down the hall on theoppositeside of mine. “There’s not going to be any of that.”

My teeth clench because my first thought is that he’s touching her.

In what universe does he believe he’s going to be welcome here, because this ain’t it. There will be no late-night stays or sleepovers where he wakes up in the morning to grab a cup of coffee while my girls are eating breakfast.

This might be Molly’s new place of residence, but there are going to be strict rules about her boy toys and how they’renotgoing to be sneaking into her room late at night for a fuck.

“At least let me try,” Dickhead says, and then I hear him mutter something else that I can’t hear.

It doesn’t matter.

He’s done.

I stand in the doorway of Molly’s plain white room. I never did anything with it when I bought my house about three years ago, and now I see Molly’s boxes laid out on the floor.

Kyle—or Ken—is standing way too close to her and making me want to bash his head in.

I clear my throat. “You done?”

Kyle casually turns around and looks nonplussed about what he was just doing. “Almost. I might stay and—”

“Thanks for the extra hand,” I cut in before jerking my thumb over my shoulder. “I got the rest.”

Kyle steals a glance at Molly who only gives him a curt nod. “Appreciate you helping. I’ll let Fiona know you said hello.”

He shifts his weight. “You sure?”

“Positive.”

Kyle rakes his hands through his short blond hair and pivots. “Alright.”

I don’t move from my position, making it awkward for him to get by but, being the slimy little bitch that he is, he does.

I just hope he trips all the way down the stairs on his way out.

“He got the heavy stuff,” Molly states, filling in the silence as if it’s required. “I don’t need help with anything else.”

Good, because I’m not helping.

“There aren’t going to be sleepovers,” I say solemnly, because I’m far from fucking amused right now. “This isn’t a revolving door for your boyfriends.”

“Boyfriends.” She doesn’t pose it as a question. It’s as though she’s pondering the fact. “Yeah…that won’t be a problem.”
