Oh, hell no.

I’m on my feet without thinking much about it, dodging dudes that are placed in my way and calling out her name. “Molly.”

She halts on a dime and she slowly turns around to face me as though she just got caught sneaking out of the house after midnight.

And that’s really all I got.

When I told her earlier that I was having a party, it was just to give her a courtesy heads-up. I didn’t think about her going out herself to get away from my music or my friends.

“Hey,” she replies flatly. “You got a rager on your hands.”

Yeah, this isn’t shit compared to the parties I’m used to.

“You headin’ out?”

She perks a brow at me because that’s obviously ayesif she’s by the door. “Was thinkin’ about it.”

“I need a partner for beer pong,” I lie as I jerk my thumb over my shoulder. “You’d do perfectly.”

“Excuse me?”

“I need someone that can hold their liquor,” I say. “You drink whiskey straight.”

“I thought beer pong meant beer.”

“Exactly.”

Molly isn’t moved by my horrible and unplanned way of getting her to stay at a party that I used to wipe clean the weird vibes.

Now I’m inviting her to the damn thing.

“I have a friend waiting for me,” she replies. “But thanks for the invite.”

I shrug. “Suit yourself. Have a good—”

“So,you’reMolly.” My eyes clench for a split second because leave it to Myles to come swinging in for the save. His arm drapes around my opposite shoulder when he says, “I can see why Odin picked you over my choice.”

Molly’s eyes narrow a bit. “You’rethe one that set him up with the teacher?”

“Accountant.” I scoff because that might be worse. “But she had great legs.”

“I wasn’t able to see those,” Molly admits. “But yeah, I was the fake date.”

Myles extends his hand. “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Myles.”

My nanny shakes his hand politely. “You too.”

“So, you’re my partner?” Molly opens her mouth, probably to tell him that she was just leaving, when he tacks on something that would make her feel like an asshole. “It’s my birthday and I wanted the prettiest girl in the house to be at my party.”

Molly frowns. “I…” She glances at me for help, but she’s not about to get any from me.

In fact, I’m Team Myles over here.

“He is getting old,” I convey. “In fact, it might be the last party he’ll have where the women are striding in without their walkers.”

My best friend hits me in the ribs lightly, but I don’t flinch. I’m too busy watching Molly battle it out with herself to stay or leave.

“Did you guys ever think that I had plans?” she finally asks with a bite to her tone.
