“Touch her, Myles,” I warn as I begin to make my way toward the backyard, “and I’ll break your fucking hands.”

“You haven’t done that to someone in years.”

“Then I’m about due.”

MOLLY

Atleastthreewomenhave flocked and flirted their way over to Kai on the other side of the beer pong table, but I’m too busy trying to win the game to care.

Sorta.

I’d be lying to myself if I said that it wasn’t annoying. That each one of them steers their attention over to me as if to subtly say that I don’t stand a chance.

Little do they know, I already had it.

However, due to the circumstances, I won’t ever again. Not when my job hangs in the balance and the man despises my entire existence being meshed with his.

Honestly, maybe it’ll do me some good if he does sleep with one of them.

Maybe it’ll loosen up the stick he has shoved up his ass.

“You’re good.”

It’s interesting how Myles flirted and conned me into staying at the house instead of going out, and then it abruptly stopped the moment we got on this side of the table.

Now I see his game more clearly and the true intentions of why he had me stay in the first place.

“You suck,” I jeer back, stealing a glance over at him. He’s drunk, can barely hit any of the cups on the other side, but he tries.

We’ll give him that.

“I haven’t played in awhile,” he argues lightly. “And Kai always glares at me when I make one in.”

“Intimidation tactic, huh?”

Myles peers down the table and tries to focus, but I’m not sure how he can see anything through his glossy eyes. “Doesn’t work on me anymore, but he tries.”

“Sounds like we need to beat him then.”

“We’re already doing that.” He tosses one of his balls like a free throw and I don’t have to look over to see that he missed because no sound dings from the cups.

“We’re actually tied,” I retort.

“Not with the game, Molly Mol,” he vouches back, slicing his green eyes to me. “Kai has been watching my hands this whole time.”

I lift my head in immediate understanding because it’s just what I thought. “He doesn’t want us to hook up.”

Myles bites down on his lower lip. His pretty-boy features make him easy to look at and I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten harassed as much as Kai is currently. “You got it. I also think that he’s got a thing for you.”

I promptly scoff that observation because, maybe once upon a time, but he quickly burned that down to the ground. “That man has a thing for me staying out of his way. Which is what I was trying to do tonight until you intercepted.”

“I’d say I’m sorry…”

But he’s not.

And, while I can appreciate a friend looking out for another one, this was completely unnecessary on all levels.
