However, I really like how he bit me last night.

And I’m looking to become someone’s snack whenever the occasion calls for it.

Which I shouldn’t.

After watching the girls all afternoon after school and on the weekend, Kai’s attention is the kind I shouldn’t crave.

But I do anyway.

CHAPTERFOURTEEN

MOLLY

It’s the weekend and Kai is gone for a boxing event while I’m obviously with the girls.

Since he’s been gone, they’ve both been up my ass the whole time. If I don’t play with another Barbie again for the rest of my life, I’m going to be a happy camper.

When I finally get them down and into bed, I’m allowed my free time to watch Bridgerton for the eighth time and not be bothered by a single soul.

I’ve literally been looking forward to this moment all day. My snacks are lined up and ready. My mental pictures of Simon with his shirt off and that English accent are a constant on my mind, and I’m in heaven.

Except for when my phone buzzes along my mattress right before I hit play with my bowl of popcorn.

Swiping it up with slight irritation that I forgot to put it ondo not disturb, I find the last name I expect to see appear on my screen.

Literally the last.

Since we messed around last weekend in this exact room, Kai has been distant and has barely spoken a word to me. Though I’ve felt his eyes on me the whole time we’ve been within eyeshot of each other.

I’m fully aware that what we did was something that can’t continue.

And I have to be okay with that.

KAI: How are the girls?

Not sure why I was surprised before.

It’s not like he’s a deadbeat dad who doesn’t give a shit when he’s coming or going and how it will affect his daughters.

Kai is an amazing and attentive father. He talks to them without getting distracted, teases them when he’s feeling playful, and they adore him to the moon and back.

ME: In bed sleeping. Everything is good.

KAI: Good.

KAI: How are you?

I push my lips out because I don’t have an immediate answer for that.

I’m fine.

However, it’s a bit awkward now around here. I guess the best course of action would be to just go with the flow and literally act as if nothing happened.

ME: Doing fine. How’s Vegas?
