“Fine, but I can provide pretty much anything,” he said, willing Nita-from-Juanita to look up and pick up on his innuendo.

He’d thought working at a sex club would offer him a few perks he hadn’t taken advantage of last time, but finding that she worked there was a whole other ball game.

He hadn’t been able to get her out of his mind after she walked away. He’d driven to his hotel with a giant hard-on that had lasted past trimming his beard and cleaning up his hair. In the shower, he’d jerked off to the memory of her instead of his usual faceless woman with massive tits.

Jesus, he thought, adjusting in his chair. He needed to get hold of himself or he’d have to find a bathroom and jerk off again.

“…living on the estate, if that’s okay with you?” Hartley asked, turning to page two.

“Living on the property,” he echoed, also turning the page. “That’s fine. Preferable, actually.”

“I’m going to be frank. We have no security personnel. We don’t even have someone to do the regular maintenance on our systems, so if you can recommend anyone—” Hartley said, but he held up his hand.

“I’ve got a pretty solid team. I just need to know what the systems are and I can bring in a specialist to tune them up and monitor them,” he replied, letting the job take over.

He flipped through the pages until he got to a map of the full estate.

“I count… nine properties plus the testing facility, security facility, and the Compound,” he enumerated, tapping the paper.

“The Compound is where the ownership team used to live. They’ve all moved off site until we know for sure that our… problem has gone away,” Hartley explained.

“Right. Your problem,” he said, glancing at Nita.

She kept her gaze on her phone, tapping as they spoke.

“You thought one of your security personnel was the one trying to sabotage the company, right?” he asked, looking back at Hartley.

“Yes. Rogue, and possibly one other accomplice. They’ve both left the company,” Hartley said.

He nodded, waiting for her to go on. She didn’t.

“Did anything else happen since they quit?” he asked, wondering if she’d own up to the latest events Stone had filled him in on.

Hartley shook her head, but her lips tightened.

“Nothing of consequence,” she replied grudgingly.

“I don’t think a dead cat or a buried knife is ‘nothing of consequence,’” Nita noted. She kept her tone reasonable, but he hadn’t misheard the tension in her voice.

“It’s been a few weeks since that happened, with no recent occurrences,” Hartley said dismissively.

“That you know of,” he added, gesturing to the contract. “As the map shows, this is a pretty big place, and you just said you have no security personnel. So nobody’s been walking the place to make sure nothing else has been going on, correct?”

Hartley had the nuts to at least flush and look down.

“That’s correct,” she bit out.

He shot a glance over to Nita, who looked pleased until she noticed him looking. Then she smoothed her expression and went back to tapping on her phone.

“Okay, I can do this with five of my guys. One will check all the systems, administer new passwords or cards or whatever you guys use for property access. Another two will do a sweep of the full property a couple days before the event,” he said, pulling out his small, tattered notepad to make a few notes. That’s about two weeks away—”

“Actually,” Hartley interrupted, looking uncomfortable. “Our new client is coming here in three days to do her bio-haptics testing,” Hartley said. “She’s mentioned moving her date due to scheduling.”

“Three days,” he repeated, pulling out his phone and looking at his work calendar. Everyone’s schedule looked open. “It’s tight, but I should be able to get some of the work started on my own. If you can schedule the testing for later that day, I’ll sweep the testing facility and its access first,” he said, while Hartley nodded.

“I can do that,” she said. “Is there anything you’ll need before your men get here?”

That’s when his eyes flashed back to Nita, the word ‘need’ bringing something pulsing to life between his legs.
