"Or perhaps that's the problem." Cinnamon shook her head. "I am friends with him. I didn't have the problem until recently."

"Do you think you need to put distance between you?" Harper relaxed her arm on the back of the bench.

"I don't know. I hope not. I enjoy talking with him." Cinnamon pushed her lips to the side. "Maybe life isn't like one bigFriendsepisode. Perhaps I can't be friends with someone I dated."

Harper giggled. "Leave it to you to bringFriendsinto a conversation."

"I don't always do it, but when I watch reruns of it, I often wonder if it's truly possible to be as close to someone as Ross and Rachel."

"Probably not since they ended up getting together in the end. And all the jealousy issues they had with each other." Harper inclined her head, holding Cinnamon's gaze. "I don't have the best advice for you. Probably because I never thought you two should’ve broken up."

"You and me both," Cinnamon agreed. "But it wasn't in my control."

"Perhaps you just need to convince him you're ready for something more again."

Cinnamon shook her head. "I don't know. I don't want him to think he can make decisions for me like he did last time. Scarlet said he hasn't changed that much, and if that's true, then that's not a road I want to walk down again."

"Because he decided for you to end your relationship," Harper stated rather than questioned.

"Yep. I should’ve had a say. Especially since we were talking marriage. It's not like he stopped having feelings for me. He simply didn't want to continue because of everything going on in his life." Frustration built in Cinnamon as she ran her hand through her hair. "And once stuff started to calm down, Kaleb could've pursued picking up where we left off. But he opted not to. Didn't even talk to me. Ignored me for years."

"Really? Like he didn't even say hi or acknowledge your existence?" Harper's eyes widened.

"Nothing at all. Until recently. And by recently, I mean like maybe two years ago, max." Cinnamon pushed herself off the bench. "Let's keep walking."

"I'm sorry I brought all of this up again." Remorse filled Harper's voice. "I sincerely wanted to hear about your date."

"Truthfully, it was a fine date."

"Maybe you need to pull aFriends." Harper's lips twitched.

"What do you mean?"

"You know where Monica kept putting Pete off, saying she wasn't attracted to him until he kissed her?" Harper wiggled her eyebrows. "Maybe that's what needs to happen with you and Mayson. Kiss him."

Cinnamon burst out laughing. "Do you think I should just grab him by his apron, pull him close, and kiss the daylights out of him?"

"Why not?" Harper laughed with her. "We're right by A Whole Latte of Love. We can go see if he's working."

"I don't think that'd be appropriate." Cinnamon held in her grin. The idea had merit, however. He didn't seem inclined to kiss her after their date, but he did promise they'd do it again. Next weekend, as a matter of fact. "We are going out next weekend, though. So maybe it'll happen then."

"I still think we should go grab some coffee. It's a warm enough night for a cold cappuccino." Harper turned around and headed toward the coffee shop.

"I still wonder how he makes them. They are so good and frothy." Cinnamon's mouth watered. She loved the cold brew. "Mays once told me he came in when everyone was gone and mixed the drink together and put it in the machine. I don't know how he keeps it cold, so the milk doesn't spoil, or how it is so light."

"I think it has to do with the machine. That lever he pulls to fill the cups does something to the liquid to make it light as air." Harper licked her lips. "Yeah. I need to get one, or I'll be dreaming about it all night."

"I can only get a small one. I'm driving back to the farm tonight, and I don't want to be up too late." Cinnamon held the door open for Harper. The sound of beans grinding drew her closer to the register. One of the smells she enjoyed the most was coffee, whether it was brewing or not.

Cinnamon inhaled, the scent washing over her and relaxing her shoulders. Perhaps dating a coffee shop owner wouldn't be such a terrible thing. She held back a grin and placed her order, stepping to the side to wait for her friend.

Once they received their cold cappuccinos, Cinnamon's gaze roamed the room. "It's busy tonight."

"Yeah, I noticed that. We can go look at the books while we sip." Harper motioned with her head to the rows of bookshelves.

"Sounds good." Making a beeline for the shelves, Cinnamon stopped in front of the Christian fiction. Mayson filled the shelves with Christian authors of all genres in hopes of drawing people to good, wholesome reading. She admired that about him.

Cinnamon turned the corner and continued to skim the book titles while sipping her coffee. She reached the section about relationships and paused. If she and Mayson continued to see one another, would he want to read a book about how to deepen their relationship? Or was that something only married couples did?
