"Hm. I don't recall that."

"Perhaps it's the bump on that hard head of yours that finally opened your eyes." Scarlet giggled as she sat down on the sofa. "You starting to see reason now?"

"Maybe." Kaleb tossed Cinnamon a wink. "I've got a mighty good woman here telling me what I ought to be doin’. Perhaps it's time I heeded her advice."

"Good." Cinnamon clapped her hands together. "Now, what's the plan for the rest of the night?"

"The guests are doing their own activities tonight and tomorrow." Grady pulled out his phone. "The contractor's dropping by in the morning to talk to Scarlet and Shane about their house, and he and I are discussing my plans."

"I thought you were going to wait for a bit?" Kaleb raised a brow.

"Now that you've got a girlfriend, I figured I ought to start planning now. I see another wedding in our near future."

A pretty blush decorated Cinnamon's face. "We haven't talked about anything."

"That's because we haven't been together for very long." Kaleb glared at Grady. "I think my brother may be overstepping."

"Nope. Just planning." Grady tucked his phone in his front pocket. "Even if I were, it's not like you two just met. You've known each other for over a decade."

"But we're reconnecting," Kaleb clarified. "No pressure, Cinnamon."

"I know." Cinnamon's smile warmed him to his very core. "What do I need to do for the guests’ meals this week?"

"I spoke with the coordinator. She said they’re going to have dinner tomorrow in town, and then they’re going down the mountain the following day. You just need breakfast and lunch." Scarlet tucked her feet underneath her. "Shane will be here to help out with whatever we need for Red, White, and Ewe."

"That's only a week away." Kaleb shook his head, his frustration mounting. "This isn't a good time for my shoulder to be in a sling."

"Maybe you can actually enjoy the day." Cinnamon crossed one leg over the other. "We can make sure everyone's having a good time. If there's a problem, you'll be on hand, instead of doing something else."

"That's true. We can keep you somewhat isolated, so people don't bump your arm." Grady eyed Kaleb as if he were a child.

"Stop looking at me like that. I'm fine, you guys. I don't need coddling."

Scarlet snickered. "Now you know how I felt when I had my concussion. Did you ease up at all and let me do what I wanted?"

"That's because you could have passed out if you overdid it." Kaleb wagged his finger at her. "And if we hadn't been overly protective, you and Shane never would’ve fallen in love. So, you're welcome."

Scarlet rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Well, then, I thank you. At the same time, I will return the favor and make Cinnamon be your bodyguard like Shane was mine."

"I'll gladly watch over him and make sure he doesn't overdo it." Cinnamon beamed at Kaleb, making his stomach flip.

"Then it's settled." Grady smacked his leg. "Scarlet, Shane, and I will oversee the day. Kaleb, you and Cinnamon meander around, but stay around the house so you can rest if you need to."

Kaleb's mood darkened. "I don't like being told what to do."

"Not very nice, is it?" Cinnamon whispered under her breath but loud enough for him to hear.

"No, it isn't. And once again, I'm sorry." Shame covered him like a wool blanket.

"No need to apologize." Cinnamon reached over and slipped her hand in his. "We've moved on."

Scarlet and Grady gave each other a look Kaleb couldn't identity. They nodded to each other and left the room.

"What was that about?"

"I believe they want us to have some time alone." Cinnamon released his hand and stood. "Would you like something to drink?"

"I'll take a Coke, if you don't mind." Kaleb leaned his head back and closed his eyes.
