Cole:

I’m not the songwriter poet person here but ok I’ll give it a try. Hold please

I waited, staring down at my phone in anticipation. What the fuck was he doing?

Cole:

Strawberries are red, your eyes are blue. They’re also sweet, and so are you

Oh yeah!!! I’ve got skillllssss

Me:

That was horrible. Never do that again

Cole:

Jokes aside your eyes are fucking gorgeous and you know it. Everything about you is hot

Me:

Stop it. You’re making things harder

Cole:

Mmm yeah I know what’s getting harder

SORRY. I keep forgetting I’m not supposed to do that. Pretend I didn’t just make a comment about you making my dick hard

Despite myself, I laughed. We shouldn’t be doing this, but it was getting harder to remember why we shouldn’t. But I had to get us back on track. The lecture hall was almost full now, and it was very muchnotthe place for sexting. Time to change the subject.

Me:

Aren’t you at work? Send me a photo as proof

Cole:

You could just say you want a selfie of me

Before I could reply, he sent through a picture of himself, sitting at his desk and grinning at the camera. Even under the unflattering office strip lights, he was gorgeous.

Cole:

Is that going to be your wallpaper?

Me:

No. My wallpaper is a close-up photo I took at the one-night-only Oasis reunion at Glastonbury after two hours of me pushing through the crowds to get to the front. That was EPIC. Best night of my life. I’m NEVER replacing that photo

Cole:

Fair enough

A tall man in a suit entered the room and took his place behind the lectern at the front. He was closely followed by another man and a woman, who also took their places at the front of the room. Conversations began to stop as people’s attention were caught by the new arrivals, and I shot another quick text to Cole.

Me:

Induction’s starting. See you later
