"Where do you think she took him?" I wondered as we climbed out.

"No clue, but I know he needed it," Colt said. "His dad is going to give us hell now. Prepare yourselves."

"What is this place?" I asked as she stopped in front of what looked like an abandoned shop. The windows were covered in newspaper and the door had no signs or markings to say what it was.

"The speakeasy. They opened it up a few weeks ago, it's meant to look like this," she explained.

"Booze?" I questioned, barking out a laugh.

"There's very little whiskey won't cure," she promised me, wrapping her hand around mine and dragging me inside.

It was an entirely different world inside. Everything was dark woods, black walls, and pops of neon. It was a mix of vintage and modern. The decor screamed of old speakeasies you see in movies with updated furniture and fixtures to make it inviting.

"What if I said I don't drink?" I asked, biting back a laugh at her horrified look.

"I mean, I'd respect it, but I think you're joking," she said without missing a beat. "Do you drink?"

"Yes," I laughed. "But I'm paying."

"Nope," she said with a laugh. "You'll wait there like a good little alpha."

Despite raising my eyebrows, I listened... this time. Only because she was captivating enough I wanted to see what she'd do next. Serenity sauntered to the bar, an extra sway in her hips now that she knew I was watching. She turned more than a few gazes but ignored them all.

Good girl.

She stopped at the jukebox and put on a few songs before going to the bar. When she turned she had two glasses in hand, the amber liquid in mine beckoning me to forget about the call with the asshole that spawned me.

"Bottoms up," she ordered, handing it over and clinking her glass to mine. Serenity upended hers and drank every drop as if it were a tiny shot, not at least four. When she saw I hadn't drunk she narrowed her eyes and I complied, keeping my eyes on her as I drank the fiery liquid down.

A waitress swung by with complimentary waters and it was my turn to demand.

"Drink up, we have to make it home," I reminded her.

"Mine wasn't whiskey," she laughed but she took a drink anyway. "Come on."

She dragged me out to the dance floor right as the song switched over to something I didn't recognize. It didn't matter what she played. The moment she pressed her body into mine, forcing me to dance with her, everything else faded away. The building could burn around us as long as she didn't let go.

She smirked when my cock hardened against my pants, but didn't react otherwise, continuing to swing her hips and press our bodies together tighter so I could follow her moves. Song after song passed as I was lost in a fog of my omega's sweet scent and the feel of her body against mine.

When the buzz of slamming whiskey started to wear off I barely noticed. I was on a different kind of high now.

Deciding to take a risk I tilted her face up to meet mine, brushing my lips over hers. She tensed for a moment before she was standing on her toes to reach me again, this time deepening the kiss. When she parted her lips I deepened the kiss, tasting every inch of her and demanding more.

When we broke apart we were sweaty, breathless, and I knew there would be no going back.

Serenity was mine now more than ever.

Silas

Facing my alcoholic brother was the last thing I wanted to do. Even texting him was a constant reminder of how far he’d fallen from the man he used to be.

Even when he hired us, we only took it because we thought Serenity might hold the key of how to get him back. But the truth was that man was gone. Even when we’d finally get him to recover he'd be forever changed. A new version of himself. I didn't know whether that would be a good or bad thing.

Amos had been silent since Serenity kicked him out. I think that was the exact kick in the ass he needed to get over himself. He'd been nearly as insufferable as Evrin. He blamed her because it was easier than accepting that Evrin was well and truly lost.
