Gentle hands cleaned my body. Warm rags wiped away the mess we'd made and every muscle in my body ached fiercely. It was nothing on the deep hunger that was clawing its way through me. I was insatiable. Even though my body was ready to give out, I still wanted more.

Someone coaxed me to take a drink and I swallowed the cold water before guzzling more down. I whimpered when it was taken away but Amos's voice cut through the trance I was in.

"Just a little, we don't want you to get sick," he prompted.

He gently fed me even though I could barely find the energy to chew and swallow. Soon, I was gone again, succumbing to the exhaustion.

Amos

The past week had flown by in a blur of keeping our Omega happy and satisfied and trying to keep ourselves alive. I'd never been more exhausted in my life but every second was worth it. She was worth it.

I'd never helped an omega through a heat before and I had a feeling that the fact that we bonded before this made it so much stronger. It was hard to watch her losing weight and barely conscious but I was happy to give her what she needed.

The betas were currently giving her a shower and I was dozing on the couch when I felt somebody sit down a few seats away.

"We can't separate again." Isaac's hard voice filtered through my exhaustion and I opened my eyes to look at him.

"Agreed. She asked for you when she could talk," I admitted. The alpha clutched his chest as if that physically wounded him. "Did you clear things up with your father?"

He nodded, a smug smile on his face. "I did, it won't be a problem again," he promised. There was a story there but it wasn't the time for that.

"She talked to Walter, too. He's going to set her up with some behind the scenes work for when we're away. Are you sure you're okay with us all crashing on your yacht, throwing off your whole dynamic?"

"I want nothing more," he admitted. "I think having you all around is just as important as keeping close to our omega. Obviously, it isn't the same kind of relationship, but at this point, being separated didn't feel right."

"Good," I said around a yawn.

"Get some rest," Isaac said, clapping me on the shoulder. "I'll take the next round. I think she's coming out of it. We even got some more food in her a few minutes ago."

"Thank god, I was starting to get worried," I admitted. "She's going to eat a ton when she does recover."

"She'll need extra time to recover," he agreed. "I'm glad we got this place in time. She didn't waste time putting her nest together." He chuckled fondly.

"I'm glad we were bonded. If we weren't, I don't know if I would have reached her in time," I admitted. We'd given them the details of the encounter. It was still hard to talk about it. I'll never get the image of my brother with his hand clamped over her mouth holding her in place as Serenity fought with everything she had, her eyes were wild with panic and she tried to scream but it was muffled.

"Jackson did good, too," he joked, trying to lighten the mood a bit but his eyes had tightened as well. Neither one of us liked that Evrin had made it as far as he did. We checked the perimeter of the fence and found some discarded lumber he'd piled up at the corner to climb over.

Grady promised us that we wouldn't see him again for a long time and I was relieved. So much of my life, I dedicated to him and he betrayed us like this. Yet he saw us as the ones responsible like we were taking something from him despite her not being his in years. In truth, she never truly was.

Knowing Serenity, I had no idea how he could even fathom the idea that she would cheat on him. She was loyal, honest, and passionate; none of those things would let her be unfaithful. He never deserved her and I think she had come to that realization, too—letting go of the pain that had haunted her for too long.

Even her parents were relieved. Every time we were around, they would tell us how glad they were that she found us. Ezra said—one night over a bonfire—how hard it was to watch her fall apart. I couldn't picture it myself. Serenity was strong. No other omega would have fought as hard as she did. She'd forced me to listen to the bond, calling to me.

We may have pulled him away, but she saved herself.

At least if all went well, he’d be behind bars for a long time. We could file restraining orders or anything else we needed when her heat was over.

Isaac was already making plans for new security measures but we’d have to back off a bit. Serenity was far too independent to have us breathing down her neck like that, especially if the threat was gone.

It wouldn't be easy, but with each passing day of Evrin behind bars, it would hopefully get a bit easier.

The smell of something cooking in the kitchen filled the air and both of our stomachs rumbled loudly enough that Oaks was laughing from the kitchen.

"Get in here, alphas, food is about done," he called out. "You'll need your strength."

Neither of us protested. We walked in and sat, digging into the fajitas Oaks put in front of us. Isaac managed to get two down before Sawyer's voice was calling out for him.
