“We’re going to need a list,” Pebbles groans. “The amount of shit babies need is insane. We’re going to have to bring your truck.”

I chuckle at the panic across her beautiful face. I lean forward, pressing a kiss to the corner of her mouth. “Everything’s going to be fine. Go get dressed, then we’ll head out.”

Before climbing off the stool, Pebbles loads her fork with the rest of her omelet and turns a curious eye on me. “You never told me you could cook.”

“You never asked,” I respond with a grin.

Her eyes lower into small slits before she lets out a laugh. “Are you telling me I’ve been panicking about how I’m going to feed two kids, and all the while you’ve been this master chef?”

I let out a bark of laughter, rinsing our plates off under the sink. “I wouldn’t call myself a master chef, but I can keep us all alive, babe.”

“Good, because I am no chef, and I absolutelyhatecooking.”

I twist up the dish towel I used to dry my hands and snap her ass lightly. “Go get dressed.”

“Ouch!” she yelps, turning and lightly smacking me on the chest with a smile. “You’ll pay for that.”

Twenty minutes later, I’m sitting on the bed, fully dressed, waiting for Pebbles to come out of the closet. I left her alone while I cleaned up the kitchen and took Henry out before coming up and throwing on a pair of jeans and a black henley.

Scrolling through Instagram, I double tap on Flame’s latest piece of work. The closet door clicking shut has my eyes snapping up. I about choke on my tongue as I try to swallow the drool accumulated there from the sight of her.

She’s wearing a tight, light gray dress that accentuates every one of her curves from the swell of her breasts all the way down and stops right above her knees. In her hands she’s holding a denim jacket and has all white Vans on her feet.

She does a little spin for me and my eyes bug out of my head at the way the dress hugs her ass. “God damn, Red.”

“What? Is it too tight? Should I change?”

“It’s fucking perfect,” I say, pushing off the bed and walking over to stop right in front of her. Reaching my hands out, I rub them along her swollen belly. “This is my favorite part.”

She smiles up at me, putting her small hands on top of mine. “I think this one over here is Cole,” she says, putting my right hand to one side. She moves my other to another spot on her stomach. “This is Cade,” she says with a smile.

Just then, both boys kick my hands at the same time. I can’t help the grin that overtakes my face from ear to ear as I hold her and feel the boys move around against my hands. This is something I never thought I’d have. Shit, I’ve always wanted a family, but it’s not something I thought was in the cards for me.

We’re so close I can taste it.

When Pebbles turns her head up to meet my eyes, I lean forward, capturing her lips with mine.

“Do you think Henry’s going to destroy the house?” Pebbles asks as I’m turning the car onto the highway to take us to the baby outlet.

“Nah, the woman said he was house trained. I made sure to fill up his water and food bowls before we left. Hopefully that’ll keep him happy until we get back.”

“Oh no, what are we going to do when I have to be at the studio?”

“I figured I could take him to the shop and the garage with me. He doesn’t run off, so I think he’ll be alright.”

I reach over and run the palm of my hand against the soft fabric at her thigh. The rest of our drive is spent making a list of the different baby items we think we’re going to need. My goal today is to not let on to the fact that the girls are planning a surprise baby shower for both her and Winnie next weekend. Today we’re going to focus on all of the big items, and hopefully I can hold her off on the small stuff.

The same young chick that Pebbles thought was hitting on me the last time we were here is right at the entrance of the store. I chuckle at Pebbles’s irritated expression as the chick hands us a cart. “If you need help finding anything, please let us know!”

When we get a good amount of distance away, I let out a roar of laughter as Pebbles mocks under her breath in a snarky tone, “If you need help finding anything, please let us know!”

Walking behind her as she pushes the cart, I grasp both of her shoulders and lean down to talk quietly in her ear. “You don’t need to be jealous, Red.”

That was the wrong thing to say as she whips around and points her long fingernail at me. “You hush up! I know when a girl wants a guy. I’ve worked with women for how long? Besides, just like men, when women don’t see one of these, they don’t give a shit if a man and woman are walking together.” She holds her left hand up and wiggles her empty ring finger at me.

I feel my lips lift involuntarily and waggle my brow. “If you wanted me to propose to you, Red, all you had to do was ask.”
