Thick white strips of fabric crisscrossed her bust line and ended in a black skirt cut just above her knee. The design was simple, yet shockingly sexy, as it bared her upper chest and emphasized peeks of dark skin along the sides of her torso and belly. Red strappy heels completed the ensemble.

“You’re gorgeous.”

“Thank you, baby,” she said, her expression soft. She lifted her arms as if to sayta da! “This is it.”

Jameson looked around them. Now that he was out of the car and had a better view of their surroundings, he recognized that they were on a side street in the historic center of London next to a tall building with a wooden, stone, and metallic facade.

As if by magic, a nondescript door materialized, held open by a woman clad in black.

“What is this?” he asked.

“It’s a surprise,” Dani said, giggling with childlike excitement. She shared a look with the young woman before seizing his hand. “Come on.”

They slipped inside and walked down a dark hallway that led through another door and to a majestic flight of stairs that seemed to be carved out of a giant tree. Peering up, the large skylight let in the night, lending everything a surreal note.

Where had she brought him?

He followed Dani down the winding white oak staircase, into a room with amber lighting, dark wood, and an ambience that seduced all his senses. He felt as if they had been transported to a lush, sophisticated enchanted forest.

“Welcome, Your Royal Highness and Duchess.” A server dressed similarly to their guide gestured toward the sole tablescape in the room. “If you please...”

The horseshoe-shaped booth was large enough to seat a big partybut was intimately set for two. Dani sat on the leather banquette and slid along until she faced out of the booth. Jameson undid the button of his suit jacket and moved to sit next to her.

“I can say with certainty that no one has ever gone through this much trouble just to take me out to dinner,” he said.

Her wide, dark brown eyes shone. “I wanted to enjoy a night out with you, and I figured it would be a bad idea to make reservations at some trendy place in Shoreditch.”

“You can make a lot of things happen, but you won’t convince me you called up this morning and made a reservation for tonight.”

“Not quite. I’ve been planning this for about a week and a half with Tasha’s help.”

“She deserves a raise.”

“Already done.”

“Right.” He laughed. “Is there a menu?”

“Yes, but you don’t need it. I have curated our dinner for this evening.”

“Oh, have you?” He pinched his chin between his thumb and forefinger. “You think you know what I like?”

Her lined glossed lips curved upward. “I feel like I have an idea.”

He took her hand and placed it over the thickening bulge in his pants. “I feel like you might be right.”

Dani squeezed his cock then nodded across the room. Two servers emerged from a kitchen cleverly hidden behind the staircase and came over to the table.

“For your first course, we have a crusty baguette, topped with an avocado Parmesan mash, poached egg, and a white balsamic vinegar glaze. To drink, we have a racy and vibrant New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.”

“Thank you,” Dani said, as their plates were placed in front of them.

“Avocado toast?” Jameson recalled bemoaning the idea that his new houseguest would eat the millennial, Californian clichéd dish when she’d first arrived at his estate, before he’d gotten to know her. When he’d visited her, he couldn’t escape the fare and every restaurant’s interpretation of it.

She smiled. “It took two weeks before you would even try it, but, admit it—you like it.”

He couldn’t give her the satisfaction. He shrugged. “It was acceptable.”

“‘Acceptable’? That’s why you ate it every morning the last week of your trip?”
