Ian laughs and the movement shakes my body. “Luckily, I won’t be in the frat house anymore. Planning on getting an apartment off campus. I was able to get a TA job for Dr. Stewart, so that plus working at the Coffee Hut is enough for me to afford rent and expenses.”

Looking up at Ian, I get close so I can whisper into his ear, “Where is the restroom?”

He smiles down at me. “Door under the stairs. Need me to show you?”

Shaking my head, I slide out from under his arm. “I’m good. Be back in a minute.”

As I walk away, he continues his conversation with his friends. Making my way through the sea of bodies, I do my best to avoid the tall, brooding man in the corner. There is a short line outside of the bathroom, but thankfully it goes by quickly.

Just when it’s my turn, as I enter the doorway, someone shoves me from behind and slams the door shut. I’m about to turn around and give whoever this is a piece of my mind, when they grab my shoulders and turn me to face them. All the air exits my lungs as Conrad stands over me.

“What—” I’m cut off when his lips smash down on mine in a crushing kiss.

My brain and body are not communicating at this time. While my brain is telling me to break this kiss and shove him away, my body melts into his soft, warm lips and the feel of his strong body against mine.

As quickly as his lips are on mine, he removes them, but his body remains molded to my own. My back is against the wall, and his hands are on either side of my head, trapping me.

Conrad’s eyes are closed and his breathing is harsh. “What are you doing to me?” he asks, but I’m not sure if the question is for me or himself.

“Why, Conrad?” I whisper. “You…you ended us. Why follow me?”

I hold my breath, waiting for his answer. Slowly, his eyes open and his gaze draws me in. “I don’t know.”

My chest tightens. I’m sick of his lack of communication. “No. That’s not good enough this time. I’m tired of you not answering my questions.” My voice is stern, and I try shoving against his chest, but he doesn’t budge. “You don’t get to come in here and kiss me when I’m on a date with someone else, then give me a bullshit nonanswer.”

Pushing back, Conrad runs his hands through his hair. With the new distance, I’m able to breathe more easily. “I just… If I tell you what’s going on, you won’t even believe me.”

“Try me.”

We stare at each other for several seconds. Something snaps in him and before I have a chance to move, Conrad is grasping my face between his hands and crushing his mouth to mine once again. Everything around me becomes Conrad. He consumes me. His warm and cedar scent invades my senses as his tongue glides across my lips, seeking entrance.

One of the hands caging my face moves lower and grips my waist, pulling me close so every inch of my front is touching Conrad’s. I gasp at the contact, and he uses this as an advantage to slip his tongue into my mouth. I moan, missing this familiar connection between us. He tastes like beer and Conrad. My body ignores my brain that’s telling it to stop this and push him away as my hands glide up his chest and grip his neck, trying to bring him closer to me.

Conrad growls against my mouth, and before I can register what he’s doing, his hands are on the back of my thighs and my feet are off the ground. My legs wrap around his waist on instinct, and his erection connects with my center through the thin material of my underwear.

Throwing my head back, I enjoy the feeling of Conrad against me and my hips begin to move, trying to find enough friction for release. Breaking the kiss doesn’t stop Conrad as his lips move from my cheek to my jaw and stop at my neck. Moving my head to the side, I give him better access as he plants kiss after kiss along my neck and collarbone.

“Conrad,” I whisper. This needs to stop. I’m here with someone else. He broke up with me.

Someone pounds on the door, shaking it with each blow from their fist. “Quit fucking in there. We have to piss,” someone shouts.

Conrad ignores them and brings his mouth back to mine in a bruising kiss. I fight for breath as he devours me with every swipe of his lips. As his tongue battles with mine, Conrad’s hips move in rhythm with the movements, and the friction causes that delicious feeling to build up inside me, and I come close to exploding.

The room shakes with more banging, and I pull away from Conrad’s aggressive mouth. “Conrad, we have to stop,” I breathlessly tell him.

He growls and tries to kiss me again, but I dodge him this time. “Fuck, Em.” He rests his forehead against my shoulder as he catches his breath.

The room fills with the sound of our breathing as whoever is on the other side of the door takes a break from hitting it.

“You have to let me go,” I tell him, my voice barely above a whisper. Conrad sighs, hearing the double meaning behind my words. If he doesn’t want to be with me, he has to let me move on.

“I know,” he reluctantly admits. Squeezing my thighs one last time, Conrad drops me. As I steady myself on my feet, his hands rest on my waist. He stares down into my eyes as he lifts his hands off me, and my body goes cold with the loss of his touch. “It’s harder than I thought it would be,” he tells me.

“What is?”

Conrad’s eyes soften as he lifts his hand and brushes his thumb across my cheek. “Letting you go.” He removes his hand and turns around, unlocking and opening the door.

There are several angry faces on the other side, and their glares are directed at Conrad and me. I duck my head as I follow him out of the room, but I want nothing more than to ask him why he is letting me go if it’s hard for him.
