Blaire’s face scrunches up in disgust. “Ew, Mad, no one wants to hear about that.”

He points at her. “Don’t think that your boyfriend doesn’t have swamp ass right now, too.”

She looks at Camden and he shrugs, not denying it.

“But for real, we’re not moving the lunch table out here, are we? Because there’s barely any room,” Levi asks again.

Resting my hand on Emree’s thigh, I answer him, “Well, that’s up to Em. You going to join us again, baby?”

She taps her finger against her pointed chin. “Hmm, I may have to think about that. I mean, it is nice and peaceful out here.”

“And hot,” Levi protests.

“Oh, Emmy, don’t act like this is even a choice. You’re texting me almost every day how much you hate sitting out here,” Blaire chimes in.

Emree’s mouth gapes open. “What the hell, Blaire? What happened to girl code?”

“Don’t think that pertains to something like this, but also, it really is gross out here. I have back sweat, Emmy.”

My girl rolls her eyes. “You are all babies.”

Levi stands and hooks his bag over his shoulder. “As much fun as it’s been sitting in my own sweat, Jules and I have class in ten minutes.”

“Oh shit,” Jules hisses as she grabs her own messenger bag. “We need to hurry, or that little brownnoser is going to steal my spot in the front.”

They run off after waving goodbye.

“What a fucking nerd,” Maddox announces to the table, and we all let out laughs.

This is what I have missed the last month. While I love my friends, something felt off each day we were together. My missing puzzle piece is back and even though the relationship with my family is complete chaos, I feel more complete.

Staring at my face on the screen of my phone through the camera, I play around with the different filters on Snapchat. From a fox to a devil, they are all fun. I stop at one that interested me a few minutes ago and an idea pops into my head.

“I think we should go get our noses pierced,” I tell Blaire.

She looks up from the book she has had her head stuck in while I watched the latest episode ofRuPaul’s Drag Race. Having a roommate that is more in favor of reading than watching TV means I usually have the freedom to put on whatever I want unless Camden is here and they’re watching a movie.

“Where in the world would you get an idea like that?”

“A Snapchat filter,” I answer with a smile.

Blaire rolls her eyes. “Emmy, really? You’re going to poke a hole in your nose because it looked good on a filter?”

Shrugging my shoulders, I close the app and open my messages. “Thinking I am. I’m going to text Levi and see if the tattoo shop he goes to has a piercer.” My fingers are tapping away to ask the question to our tattooed, lumberjack-looking friend.

Blaire places the bookmark into her spot in the book and sets it on the seat beside her. “Are you thinking one of those cute little studs or those bull rings people are getting all over campus now?”

I roll my eyes. “Of course not the bull ring one. I like those hoop things. Maybe a gold one?”

She studies my face for a moment. “Okay, I think that would look cute then.” My phone buzzes in my lap. “What did Levi say?”

Smiling, I look up. “He said to meet him at the house in twenty and he’ll bring us.”

Blaire’s eyes widen. “Us? When did this become a group activity?”
