Billionaire Businessman, Howard Dugray, Arrested for Embezzling Charity Funds

I go on to read more of the article. The number of years my father has been stealing money from his own charity for heart disease, which my grandfather died of. How my father’s assistant has been collecting enough evidence against him and how she is also filing sexual harassment charges against him. There is a photo of my father in one of his well-fitted suits with his hands cuffed behind his back while being escorted out of his Boston office. Reading through something that is tearing apart my father would usually bring most sons sadness, but I can’t help but smile, knowing that he got what he deserves.

Karma is a bitch, and my father has now met his fate. Piss-poor actions always come around, and he has had this coming for a while now.

Locking the phone, I hand it back to Maddox. “Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.”

He gives me a smile and a knowing nod. Maddox may have a better relationship with his parents than I do, but he still gets it. Family doesn’t always mean blood, and I feel more love and care from my good friends and Emree than I ever had from my parents.

My phone dings from inside my pocket. Pulling it out, I read the text from my sister.

Alice: Mom won’t stop crying and Archer is on a rampage. All the kids at school are talking about it. I left the dorm and am staying with Mom, but it’s bad, Conny.

Me: I’m sorry. You can come here if you need to escape it all. You’re always more than welcome. I love you, little sis.

Although my family and I have no relationship anymore, Alice is not someone I could go without having in my life. My sister is a sweet and kindhearted person who is more out of place in the Dugray family than I am. Even though we live almost two thousand miles away from each other, I have tried my best to keep in touch with her, especially after what happened with my father.

After all the players get their massages, Coach dismisses us and tells everyone to take the next few days off to focus on final exams. Levi smiles, knowing he basically has a few free days other than his one exam and work.

The guys want to have a BBQ tonight to celebrate the end of the semester, so Mateo and I stop at the grocery store to get some food to grill and different snacks and drinks. Most of us haven’t been too big on the larger parties we used to have, so these smaller get-togethers are more common.

When we get back to the house, there are already a couple of extra cars parked on the side of the road. Two I recognize as Jules’s and Blaire’s, but there is also an older sedan I’ve never seen before.

“You know who that other car belongs to?” I ask Mateo as we unload the trunk.

He shakes his head as he looks away from the stranger’s vehicle. “No clue. Let’s hope Maddox didn’t go rogue and invite more people over than we talked about.”

Knowing our roommate, I can see him bypassing our agreement and turning this get-together into a full-blown rager.

With our arms full of grocery bags, Mateo and I make our way into the house. The smell of homemade tomato sauce fills my senses, and there is music playing softly in the background. Rounding our way into the kitchen, I take in Emree at the stove, stirring something in the pot with a wooden spoon in her hand.

“Now you want to make sure if the heat is high that you’re constantly stirring the sauce so that it doesn’t burn on the bottom. If you lower the heat, it’s fine to leave and just stir occasionally.” Blaire is beside my girl, explaining the art of sauce making, and I can’t help but laugh because something so simple should be common knowledge, but Emree is simple when it comes to the kitchen. As in, she is all about foods that need to be reheated via a microwave or oven. Sautéeing and mixing are not her forte.

“Hey, Mad, why don’t you come get a much-needed lesson in the kitchen?” I laugh as I call out to him.

Maddox doesn’t look over but yells back, “How about you suck my dick, Dugray?” His focus is on something on the other side of the room, and when I walk over, I see Trazia and Jules talking. Trazia throws her head back as she laughs, and Maddox groans and gets up from his seat.

“You okay, man?” I ask him.

He tosses his empty beer bottle in the trash and opens the cooler to grab another one. “Just fine.” He looks around our group of friends and then back at me. “Can you all stop being opposed to bigger parties? I need to get laid, and if you all keep up with these small gatherings, I’m going to fuck Jules eventually.”

“Touch my best friend, and you’re dead,” Mateo answers from the patio. The sliding door is open, and he and Levi are sitting at the table we have back there, and Camden is firing up the grill.

Maddox scoffs and goes to join Camden off to the side of the backyard.

A pair of hands snakes around my waist and settles on my lower stomach. “Welcome home, handsome.”

The smile on my face grows easily as I rest my hands over Em’s. I like the sound of that.Home. Not so much the house I share with the guys, but her. “How was your day, little chef?”

Her laugh shakes me since her front is plastered to my back. Emree unlinks her hands, and I turn to face her. “It was good. My dress was a big hit with my professor. She actually wanted to keep it for her class as an example for next year.”

“That’s amazing, baby.” Framing her face with my palms, I pull her in for a congratulatory kiss. Emree’s hands settle on my hips as I taste her for the first time today. With our school schedules and needing to get ready for exams, I haven’t seen much of her over the week.

“How about you? How was your day? Have you…um…watched TV at all today?”

She’s trying to ask me if I’ve seen the news about my dad without asking me directly. “I haven’t, but Maddox was kind enough to inform me of just another reason why my father is scum.”

With sad eyes, Emree cups my chin and runs her thumb over the short stubble there. “While I’m sure you’re not surprised, I’m sorry nonetheless. It’s hard knowing how shitty your parent is.”
