He didn’t strike me but instead he pulled a small section of my hair away from the rest of it and ran his fingers over it. “My own soft rose hidden in a field of thorns.” He whispered before he blinked and dropped his hand away from my hair.

“I’m going to get some food and do some work. I’ll have one of the guards bring you something to eat as well. You’re not to leave this room, do you understand me?” His command didn’t leave much room for argument.

I nodded my head once and he turned on his heel to leave the room.

“Wait,” I sighed and wet my lips to ask my question. After all the intense and intimate contact he and I had I felt like a complete idiot for not knowing. “What’s your name?”

He sighed and for the briefest of seconds I could see what looked like disappointment wash over his features, until he opened his eyes again to answer me, “Dominic Lochley. Nice to make your acquaintance wife.” He clenched his jaw once which caused the muscles on the side of his face to pop out slightly. My eyes stayed glued on his face until he turned once again to walk out. As he slowly walked to the door I let my eyes drift down his body. I’d seen his body last night but even this morning under the crisp cloth of his dress shirt I could still see the pure perfection of him. His shoulders were wide and his arms thick with muscles. Through his shirt I could still see the way his muscles contracted and released after every small swing of his arms. Those large muscles tapered down to a small waist. I’d read about men like him in my naughty books and in the Cosmopolitan magazine that I’d somehow signed up for.

My lips parted and I inhaled a sharp breath as my mind replayed the way he felt on top of me before it all went to shit. The sex part was horrible but something about his scent and the way his powerful body engulfed mine was sexier than I would ever admit.

Dominic wasn’t playing around when he said that nothing was allowed to happen without his say so. Guards were posted outside my door and there was nothing in the room that I could use to alert anyone of my situation. I was truly stuck in here.

It felt like hours had passed but I couldn’t be sure. When the door opened to the room I thought it’d be Dominic but instead it was just one of the guards with a tray of food for me. Dominic did say he was going to get me something to eat.

The guard placed the tray on the side table before he turned in my direction, “Wow, I don’t know what the boss did to you last night but it sure sounded like you were having the time of your life.” The guard dragged his gaze over my body. I’d only been able to cover myself with the sheet since all the clothing I’d worn here last night had been ripped off and was missing at the moment.

“I wasn’t.” I answered but took a step back from where the man was standing.

“Aw, well that’s too bad. I’m sure I could make up for that. You know we always have a good time right.” He smiled at me and took another step in my direction.

“I don’t want to do anything with you. Leave me alone.” My throat tightened as I tried to get those words out and instead of them sounding strong, they sounded more like a mousy squeak.

“You don’t want to?” The smile that was just on the guard's face dropped off in a flash as he reached out and wrapped his large hand around my arm. “You think I’m going to sit back and be denied by some slut just because she was smart enough to get her name changed? Do you think I give a damn about what you want?”

He squeezed so hard, the muscles in my arm bulged through his fingers. I didn’t want to move because I was sure that he’d rip my arm out of the socket if I put up too much of a fight.

“I’m Dominic’s wife. If he wanted to share me with you I don’t think he would have married me.” I spoke through my clenched teeth.

The guard dropped my arm but backed me up until I was forced to take a seat on the bed behind me. “We all know what this marriage is about. Once Dominic gets what he wants from you, you’re going to be back on your back in the rec room begging us to stuff your greedy cunt up. If I were you, I’d be careful how rude you are to the people around you. We may not be so nice the next time we see you.”

My chin was tucked down against my chest and my knuckles had turned ghost white as I clung to the sheet that was tied around my body. I didn’t want to agitate this man any more than he already was. I didn’t let out another breath until I heard the door open and close and I knew the guard had left me alone.

A fresh round of tears welled up in my eyes and spilled in rivers down my cheeks. I’m not cut out for this. Either by Dominic’s hands or one of the other enemies I’ve made in this house, I was going to die if I didn’t get out. That would be the price I paid for standing by my twin.

CHAPTER SEVEN

“Dom, how… I mean, what… are you serious?” Lionel, my younger brother asked me as I tossed back another drink.

It was only ten in the morning but I was well on my way to being drunk. So many things had to go exactly wrong last night for me to be in this situation. I’m married, legally, to a woman I don’t know. To a woman who by all accounts probably will never let me touch her again. I’m married to a woman who was a fucking virgin.

“Does it look like I’m joking right now, Lionel? What about this shitbucket of a situation is funny in the least?” I slid my glass over the granite countertop and it came to a stop right before it would’ve fallen into the sink.

“No man. There is nothing funny about this in the least. Do you know what father will do when he finds out you got the first half of your inheritance because of a trick?” Lionel crossed his arms over his chest and looked down. Out of the two of us I’d be the only one to get anything from father since Lionel was born out of wedlock to a stripper my father cheated on my mother with. It was my responsibility to take care of my brother and I did to the best of my ability. But he would never face my father’s wrath the way I would.

If my father thinks I double crossed him in any way, he wouldn’t just be upset, he’d cut my head clear off my body with no hesitation.

“Father doesn’t have to know anything.” I said.

“What? How do you figure that? From what you described to me, it doesn’t sound like this woman is all that willing to go along with her sister’s plan.” One of my brother's eyebrows hitched up and he stared at me waiting for a solution.

For the first time in a long time, uncertainty creeped up my spine and burrowed into my mind. It would only take one loose mouth to fuck this up for me. It’d take one mistake to get my father to come to the states and strip me of both my title and my fortune. I’d come too far to let a pass around bring me down. Farrah wasn’t going to be the end of me.

“No one is going to tell anyone anything about the switch. The only people that know are you, me and Dr. Nelson. I’ll get him in line and the woman.”

Lionel shook his head and huffed out in disbelief. “You’ve got some huge balls on you big brother but if this is what you want to do, I’m with you. What do you need from me?”

In my mind's eye I saw exactly what I needed to do in order to make sure that everything would continue to go to plan. I saw the face of the woman that had the nerve to betray me. It was also the same face as my wife.
