Holy…

The most downright gorgeous man I’ve ever seen is walking toward us, with dark hair that shines with a reddish hue beneath the fluorescent lights, sexy green eyes, and soft pink lips. He’s wearing an expensive-looking black suit and radiates power and money. Definitely one of those corporate types who probably works in one of the buildings nearby.

“Girl, serve him!” Carla—my co-worker and roommate—hisses, nudging me toward the till. “Or offer to fuck him, because one of us definitely should.”

“Carla!” I hiss, scandalized.

She rolls her eyes and shoves me toward the till, leaving me with no choice but to interact with the man who already has my cheeks flushed.

It’s only when he approaches the counter that I realize how tall he is, and I have to crane my neck back to see his face. Damn, he must be well over six feet tall.

My lips part as I stare up at him, words evading me as I fall under his spell. What was I meant to be doing again?

His gaze cascades over the upper half of my body—all that he can see from the other side of the counter—before the sexiest smirk I’ve ever seen graces his fine-as-hell lips.

My flush deepens as I continue to gape at him.

“Well, hello there.” My eyes widen at his smooth Irish brogue that brushes against my skin like silk. His smile broadens. “Can I get a black coffee to go?”

It’s only then that I snap out of my funk and realize I’m gaping rudely at a customer.

“O-of course,” I stammer, feeling the burn of embarrassment in my cheeks as I grab a disposable paper cup and move to fill it. Popping on a lid and sleeve, I set it on the counter and input the transaction into the register, reciting the amount without so much as looking at him.

I’m worried if I do that, I’ll fall into another trance again, and I’m sure the last thing he wants is some barista gawking at him.

“I think you forgot something.”

Damn, that sexy accent.

Now I’m forced to look at him, and yup, just as I suspected, his dazzling smile wipes all common sense from my brain.

“Huh?” My eyes widen with embarrassment. “I mean, I did?”

He laughs, this rugged, deep rumble that vibrates along my skin.

“Uh-huh, you did. Something important.”

Mischief gleams in his eyes, but I’m unable to think clearly enough to work out why. God, is this how men feel when all the blood rushes to their dicks? Because I swear, I’m experiencing the female equivalent.

He taps the side of his cup. “Your phone number. You didn’t write it on the cup for me.”

Was I supposed to? Is that what normally happens when he orders a coffee? I scoff internally. Of course, that’s what he’s used to. Hell, his bed is probably warmed every night of the week with phone numbers that are handed over to him on a whim.

“Oh.” I don’t know what else to say. I’m not the sort of girl who hands her number out to complete strangers—even ones who look like him.

For some reason, the fact I’m not jumping to hand over my phone number only makes him smile more.

“You want me to work for it. I get it.” He reaches into the inner pocket of his suit jacket and pulls out a ten-dollar bill. Handing it over, he leans in so close that I can see how smooth his skin is, and I have to hold myself back from touching him. He can’t be more than a few years older than me, mid-twenties, maybe.

With his voice pitched low, so only I can hear, he says, “Although you should know, I don’t like it when I don’t get my way”—his gaze flicks down before meeting mine again—“Mia.”

Still smiling, he straightens up and takes a step backward. “Keep the change.” Still looking at me, he tacks on, “I think I’ve found my new favorite coffee place,” before smiling that far-too-sexy smile of his and walking out.

“Oh my god!” Carla squeals, pulling on my arm as she bounces up and down on the balls of her feet. “He was so flirting with you.”

I scoff, although I admit it feels pretty damn good, even if it was just a one-time thing and I never see him again. “Please, I’m sure he does that with all the baristas.”

“So? He’s fine as hell.”
