He should have never gone after my little beauty, my woman, my Marigold.

I might not be able to kill him, but I’ll make sure he knows not to fuck with me and mine. I’ll make sure he knows Marigold is as close to an Agosti as you can get without the last name.

“Lorenzo Vitale,” my brother’s voice is smooth as he addresses the receptionist, “I’m here to see Mr. Lang.”

The woman taps a few keys on the keyboard and starts to shake her head slowly. “I’m sorry, Mr. Vitale, but I don’t see an appointment in your name.”

Lorenzo grins at the woman, one which would have the devil shivering. She blinks up at him a few times, but he doesn’t say a word before he strides toward the elevators, not giving her a backwards glance. She doesn’t call out. She doesn’t tell security to stop us.

Good. It would be a shame for an innocent to be caught in this. She’s just doing her job and I can’t fault her for that. Even if I want to. Even if I want to bring this entire building down around us so I can get to my woman faster.

I’m a bundle of nerves and regret as we ascend to the top floor. I’m almost surprised the security isn’t better, but Lang is an arrogant man and probably thinks he’s above considering such things.

All the better for me to get my hands on him.

When the elevator opens, I hear the sharp cry of my woman and my feet are moving before I even realize it, leaving Lorenzo and Tazio in my wake. I wrench open the door to Lang’s office and freeze at the sight in front of me.

Lang is holding Marigold against his chest, his hands in her hair while wrenching her head back as he attacks her neck with his mouth, biting and sucking. He’s leaving marks on her delicate skin. If that wasn’t bad enough, my woman, the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, is sobbing while trying to fight against him. Something inside of me breaks.

“Stop,” I roar out my command, the animal in me rising, rising, rising. He rattles the cage and I hear the first steel bar hit the concrete that lays underneath it.

Lang freezes, but Marigold doesn’t. She twists her body, her gray eyes meeting mine and filling with relief. She doesn’t relax, but I watch as her shoulders slump slightly.

I catch movement out of the corner of my eye, but Tazio steps in front of one of the men from the alley and takes him down with a single hit. It might have something to do with the brass knuckles he’s wearing. It’s a favorite weapon of his, but I’ve always preferred my blade, the weight of which I feel right now. It calls to me, but I ignore it.

“Mr. Lang,” Lorenzo’s voice rings out before he tsks at the man who needs to get his fucking hands off my woman. “What a shame we meet this way,” he intones as he steps up next to me.

“Sergio,” Marigold breathes and it’s like a balm to my soul.

She’s okay. She’s right in front of me and once this business is dealt with, I’ll be able to hold her in my arms. I ache to feel her against me now, but I know I have to wait.

Lang spits out, “Who the fuck are you? You can’t just come in here.” He looks down at the muscle he should have never hired to try and take my woman from me and pales slightly. “You need to get out.”

“That won’t be possible,” Lorenzo’s voice is condescending with a hint of fury.

“Get your hands off my woman,” I snarl the words.

Lang narrows his eyes and flexes his hands on Marigold. I shake my head slowly, warning him that whatever he’s thinking is a stupid move.

“My brother is right. You will remove your hands from Ms. Leto. If you don’t, I won’t be able to stop my brother from tearing you apart,” Lorenzo warns.

“Why should I listen to you? Do you know who I am?” Lang’s voice gets higher with every word, “I’ll end you.”

“Don’t think so,” Tazio’s voice is chilling.

Lorenzo smirks. “I apologize. I should have introduced myself. My name is Lorenzo Vitale.” Lang pales and my brother nods slowly. “It’s clear you’ve heard of me which means you know who my boss is. He is also Sergio’s boss. Marigold is his woman. I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this.”

Lang lets go of my little beauty like she’s made of fire, and she starts to lose her footing. Before she can fall, I’m there and tugging her against my chest. I’m not sure if I’m hurting her or not, but the way she’s trying to burrow into my chest is telling.

“I knew you’d come for me,” she whispers against my chest. “I’m sorry.”

I bend my head down and speak so only she can hear me. “I will always come for you. I’m sorry I didn’t listen. I should have known you wouldn’t leave it alone and would go to the store.” She sucks in a breath, and I know her mind has gone to her grandfather. “Marcus is getting the care he needs. We’ll go to the hospital and check on him when we’re done here.”

The silence of the room has me lifting my head and I look over at my brother to find him looking at me with a soft look in his eyes. I give him a nod and all the softness evaporates when he looks back at Lang.

I look at the man in front of me, the one who thinks he is some mogul, but is really scum. “Unless you want to meet the devil today, you will do exactly as I say,” my voice is like death itself. “You will never speak to Marcus or Marigold Leto again. You will not contact anyone else in the neighborhood about selling. We know what you’re about and we can bring pain to your door in many ways.”

Lang’s eyes go to Lorenzo as if to ask him if my words are sanctioned and my brother gives a nod. I kiss my woman on the forehead and gently pass her to Tazio. When I glance down into her eyes, I can see the concern there.
