The man pauses for a moment. “Give me that,” he orders Lennon, and then I feel another jolt as he sticks a Taser against my arm and fires it off. “There isn’t enough money in the world to go against the Bratva,” the man says as he picks me up. My mind is completely scrambled. I hear them talking around me, but I can’t stop them. I’m set in the passenger seat and then the seat belt is put around me. The guy grabs my breast.

“Hey, don’t touch her.”

“Who’s going to stop me?” He laughs and moves toward her. I hear her struggling and then another gunshot. My body jerks in fear.

The car is in motion, and we are taking off fast.

After what feels like only a few moments, I’m able to talk. I glance out the window and take in my surroundings. From the looks of it, we are no longer in Vegas.

“Why?” My voice cracks.

“I had to get you away from him. He’s dangerous, and as your big sister, I need to protect you.” Lennon looks over at me.

“Did you kill my guards?”

“No. I shot that idiot Daron. He touched you and was trying to hurt me.”

“Andrei is going to find me.” And he might kill her for this.

“By the time he does, we will be far away and you’ll no longer be under his spell. Just because he saved you, it doesn’t mean you have to worship him and be his mistress.”

“I’m going to be his wife.” She looks at me in shock and then looks up as the interior of the car is flooded with light.

“What is this idiot doing?” she complains, and then the car jolts hard as we are slammed from behind. I stretch my arms out to brace myself, but the belt keeps me from moving. I look at my feet and see my purse. I pick it up and hold it as we are hit again. Lennon grips the steering wheel but loses control of the car. We slide off the road and crash into a ditch. I barely hold on to my bag. I look over at Lennon. She’s breathing hard and trying to get out of the car, but her door won’t open.

My door is yanked open, and I shriek in fear.

“I’ve got you now.”

Lennon screams as I’m pulled from the car and thrown to the ground. I slip my clutch into the pocket of my trench coat as I watch the gun lowered to my face. I turn my head at the last minute, and the slam against my temple knocks me out instantly.

Andrei

I look down at my watch, wondering where my girl is. She should have been here already. The team messaged me when they were heading out of the condo, but I haven’t heard from them since. I pull out my phone and send a quick message to her team, asking what’s taking so long. My phone rings, and I see Adrik’s name on the display.

“Da,” I growl into the phone.

“She’s gone. We were attacked by a man who was working for her sister.” He pauses and I’m about to crush my phone under the strain of waiting. “Her sister left a note saying Mistress asked her to take her away from you.”

“It’s a fucking lie. How did she get the drop on you?” I notice my brother’s limo pulling up outside. I need to greet them and get my girl back. I listen while he explains what happened. “I don’t care what you do, find her, now. Take her out to my place and lock her inside,” I bark into my phone. “I will kill you with my bare hands if she isn’t found.” I punch the button as I notice the look on Gray’s face. I know he’s worried it’s Ley. Same with Babushka. But I can’t reassure them yet until I get things moving to find Sparrow.

Mikhail and Dmitri both move close. I speak in Russian as I fill them in and issue orders. My eyes move across the restaurant to Bronwyn. With a slight tip of my head, he moves toward me.

When I’ve finally got my men searching, I look at Grayson to assure him it’s not our sister.

“Ley?” Grayson asks.

“Nyet,” I growl, and take a deep breath. I force my lips to smile and add some emotion to my body before I address my new sister-in-law. “I’m Andrei. Welcome to the family.” I kiss each of her cheeks and then send them to the dining room before I swing on Bronwyn. I have him against the wall with my gun in his gut.

“Why did you help Lennon take Sparrow from me?” I lean into his body. I have him by the throat and slowly ease up so he can speak. I know he’s packing, but he hasn’t pulled his gun and my men will disarm him if I don’t first. I’m not afraid. I have no concern for my safety, just my Sparrow.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Lennon had a friend shoot one of Sparrow’s guards before she tasered the other. She then shot her friend and left him in the alley. He isn’t dead. My guys will get information from him. But if I find out you had something to do with this, I’ll kill you with my bare hands.” I slam him into the wall before I move away.

“Why would I do that? McCall is still out there with the Triad backing him.”

His words have acid rolling through my stomach. They are both in great danger now. I move to the dining room and paste on a smile as I greet everyone. I have to be here, but I don’t want to be.
