“Good, then I’d like to use that too. If I ask you what color you are, or where you are, please respond with red, yellow, or green.”

“And red is hard stop, like a safeword?”

“Yes and no. Red is stop immediately, but I may ask for some additional information, depending on the situation.”

“Isn’t that…a safeword?”

Master Ben paused for a minute, then lifted his hand from her pussy. Josslyn cursed herself for being stupid and asking questions.

He pinched her chin, using the hold to force her head up, and turned her face to his so they were eye to eye.

“Josslyn.”

He was looking at her with an intensity that was almost uncomfortable. The eye contact was certainly intimate. She had to force herself not to look away.

“If you use your safeword, I will stop everything. I’ll cut ropes, use safety releases. I’ll call for assistance. If you use your safeword, it’s my goal to have you out of the scene and wrapped in a blanket in three minutes or less.”

“Wrapped in a blanket?”

“It’s always step one in my aftercare, unless it’s exceptionally hot. And I want to be clear that I would offer aftercare in this hypothetical situation, but if I’d pushed you to needing to use a safeword, I would also acknowledge that you might need someone else, and I’d find someone who I was sure could meet your needs.”

Josslyn stared at him, a little stunned. He had really thought about this. He had a plan, and a good plan at that, and he knew how to execute it.

She didn’t say anything, and he released her chin. But it wasn’t his hold that stopped her from speaking. She didn’t know what to say. Master Ben’s precision approach to BDSM wasn’t something she’d ever experienced before. The scenes she’d been a part of at Las Palmas had been wonderful and kinky and fulfilling, but they’d developed organically, and though she was sure the Doms thought about what they were doing, it hadn’t felt focused and intense.

And this was just a conversation. What was it going to be like when they actually started?

Josslyn examined Master Ben’s features one by one, studying him as if that would allow her to decode him. To understand what about him created this nearly instant intimacy between them.

If the answer was there, she couldn’t read it. Not yet.

Instead, Josslyn took a deep breath, then slowly, deliberately, lowered her gaze.

Chapter 4

She dropped her eyes submissively, and the need to dominate her, to possess and control her, made Ilias’s hands shake.

He gripped her hips and eased her off of his lap and onto the floor cushion, then rose—ignoring the crackling in his knee—and returned to his chair. He found himself smiling as he remembered her “delightfully dramatic” comment.

“Josslyn, I’d like you to reenter the room.”

She looked up, smiled. “Time to start, Sir?”

“Yes. Once you come back through that door, we’re in the scene. Your safeword is egg, and we’re using the stoplight system.”

“Yes, Sir.” She scooted forward, planting her feet flat on the floor as she prepared to rise.

“One thing before you go,” he said.

“Yes, Sir? Also, excellent dramatic timing of the statement.”

Ilias leaned his head back and laughed for a moment. When he looked at her again, she was grinning and looked so happy that he couldn’t help but smile too.

That pretty smile wouldn’t stop him from using and abusing her, but he was also going to make it a personal goal to make her smile as much as he could.

“When you enter the room, there are going to be rules.”

“R for rules, Sir?”
