“You any closer to caving?” she asked, watching me.

Shrugging, I smiled slightly. I wasn’t as opposed to a baby as I’d been. In the fey’s mind, there were no set gender roles when it came to parenting. If I wanted to be a “dad” and sit on the couch while Molev bounced a kid on his hip and made dinner, it was socially acceptable here.

I kissed Ricky’s dark head of hair.

“Want a nap?” I asked.

“Would you mind?”

“Not even a little,” I said, grabbing the diaper bag that was always ready and by the door. Angel had started the trend so anyone could steal little Daisy whenever they wanted. It was handy because the fey were always wanting to do things with the “tiny humans.”

As soon as I walked outside with Ricky and the bag, there was a chorus of groans.

“Sorry, guys, he’s mine for a while,” I said with a laugh.

I hadn’t even reached our house when Molev materialized in front of me. The look he gave me was hungry in so many different ways.

“I stole the baby with Mya’s permission,” I said. “Want to play Daddy?”

I barely had the words out of my mouth before Ricky was in his arms.

“Your father wishes he was the strongest among us, but you will be stronger,” Molev said as he walked inside with the infant.

Grinning, I followed the pair.

“Did you hear the other news?” I asked. “Or did the fey network only tell you how I’d taken off with Mya’s baby?”

“They reached Fort Irwin,” he said, settling on the couch and patting the spot beside him. “The researcher stopped experiementing after the last injection failed terribly.”

“Good. No human-hellhound mutants running around then. Any news on where the sanctuary is?”

When I went to sit, he pulled me into his lap so he was holding me and the baby.

“We will find them soon,” he said, sounding very sure.

“You think so?”

“I’m certain.”

I let out a long exhale and looked at Ricky sleeping peacefully in Molev’s arms.

“You’re rarely wrong,” I said, thoughtfully. “Which is why I want to ask you something.”

He watched me, waiting.

“Will I regret having a baby with you?”

Taking my question seriously, he didn’t answer immediately. And I loved him more for it.

“No,” he said finally. “And we will have more than one.”

I didn’t get mad about that statement. Because I knew it would be the truth. Once my IUD was out, there would be very little stopping any pregnancy. After all, sex with Molev was amazing and would be non-stop if I hadn’t set some rules, which I heard was common.

“And if you do start feeling anything close to regret, you will tell me immediately so I can change whatever is causing you to feel that way.”

My heart swelled for the man holding me.

“Okay,” I said. “As soon as you’re done holding Ricky, we’ll go talk to the doctor and Cassie about removing the IUD.”
