The following two hours progressed in a grueling blur until Molev called a break. I had faint bite marks up and down my arm when I collapsed to the ground beside Roni, but I wouldn’t be sleeping next to Molev naked. Each bite I’d given her had earned an article back, and her arms were almost as decorated as mine.

“Have fun with panties only tonight,” she said with a smirk.

“Day’s not done.”

A water bottle dropped in my lap, and I shaded my eyes to look up at Molev.

“We will run the courses for the rest of the day,” he said.

Roni howled with laughter beside me.

“Was that decided before or after I lost my shirt and bra?” I asked.

Molev smirked slightly as he tossed Roni a bottle and walked away without answering. I shook my head and took a long drink. Sleeping next to Molev while only wearing underwear didn’t bother me at all. I trusted him with my boundaries. I still didn’t want to run the courses, though.

“So, are you better now?” Roni asked, watching me watch Molev.

“Sort of. Tonight will help.”

“Hell yes, girl. About damn time you tap that.”

I glanced at her. “Are thoughts of sex always running in the background of your mind?”

“Pretty much. Surprisingly, guys don't find that a turn-off. It’s the wrestling before sex that usually sends them running.”

“You saw me coming, didn’t you?” Steve said from behind us.

Roni smirked, proving that she had, as I swiveled to look at him. He held out a snack bar to me and playfully threw Roni’s at her back.

“It’s not the wrestling that sends them running, Roni,” he said. “It’s the snoring.”

She twisted and tried to grab his leg, but he jumped back to avoid it and jogged away while laughing. I almost asked what was going on between the two of them before I caught myself. Too much information that I didn’t need. Getting closer to Molev was enough. I didn’t need more.

The remainder of the day passed in a blur of exhausting activity. When it was finally time to go home, I half-collapsed onto my seat in the waiting vehicle. Molev sat beside me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders to pull me flush against his side.

“Tell me tomorrow’s a rest day.” Tipping my head back to look at him, I gave him my best sad face, pouty lip and all.

His gaze swept over my face, lingering on my mouth.

“We can rest tomorrow,” he said, and his hold on me tightened as he looked away.

Since my minor meltdown this morning, he’d been watching me closely but not approaching. I knew he was trying to trust that I wasn’t withdrawing from him, but I saw his doubt. Rather than bring it up, I let it be. Once we were home and in the privacy of our bedroom, we’d have the real talk we needed to have.

Leaning my head against his chest, I watched the turn to our house approach. The thought of a hot shower tempted me as much as dinner. Only timing would tell which one would win. Roland could move fast when he wanted the shower first, and Molev wouldn’t let me sprint for the door after the way I’d acted this morning.

The vehicle stopped in front of the house, and Roland was jogging for the door before Molev climbed out. Katie hurried after him.

“How do they even have the energy?” I asked.

Molev grunted in reply, and I withheld my sigh.

“Can you stop them from showering?” I asked. “I’d rather get this talk done with so you can stop obsessing.”

Molev’s mossy green gaze flicked to me, and he started to frown.

“Yep, that’s right. You’re obsessing over something that’s not happening…just like I was doing this morning. Do I think that means you don’t like me anymore? No, I don’t. I simply recognize that you have a lot going on in your head, and I’m going to do what I can to help you work through it until you’re in a better place. See how that works?”

His fingers curled around the back of my head, and I struggled not to smirk at him.
