The grin that lit her face had me rolling my eyes.

“Just tell me,” I said.

“I’ve been collecting them since Molev told me about the big boy waiting for me in Whiteman.”

“I need a box.”

She snorted.

“I have three goliath-sized condoms. I’ll give you one.”

“One?” I echoed, looking at Molev. “I don’t think that’ll be enough.”

“Teach him the pullout method,” she said with a shrug.

“That’s like Russian roulette. I am not banking my future on pull-and-pray.” Granted, I did have the IUD, but still. I wanted to wrap my uterus in all the “Do not enter tape” and add a padlock for good measure.

“Hey, I don’t want to either, but it’s not looking like we’re going to have much of a choice. Like you said, they don’t really make them in their size.”

When I glanced at the coolers, Molev wasn’t where he’d been. I spotted him coming our way.

Roni chuckled.

“I’ll slip you what you need at dinner,” she said. “But you have to promise to tell me everything.” Then she jogged away, leaving me to face Molev alone.

He came up to me, grabbed the back of my neck, and kissed my forehead.

“Do you trust me?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Then stop overthinking this. I promise you will not be burdened with a child. Now, focus on your group. I think the woman with the long hair will be a good fit for our community.”

Ourcommunity.

I nodded and let him lead me back to the group.

The afternoon passed in a blur of redundancy. I stood beside Katie as we said farewell to the volunteers for the evening then joined the others in our pre-workout stretches. Molev’s pace on the way back was a little quicker than usual. Roni kept grinning at me whenever Katie begged him to slow down.

“You need to learn to run faster, Katie,” Molev said when we were almost home. “Your speed might save your life.”

She grumbled but kept up as we ran right to the front door.

Roni and Sid bolted for the showers, and Molev went to the kitchen to start dinner. We typically took turns on the days we didn’t train hard.

Brandon looked at me and shrugged, choosing to sit at the island and watch Molev work. Not that he provided much of a show. He quickly assembled two dozen sandwiches, wrapped four of them, and strode toward me.

Roland tried hiding his smirk as Molev grabbed my hand and started pulling me toward the door.

“But…wait…I need—”

He threw me over his shoulder.

Steve laughed and opened the door. “You two have fun.”

“Dammit, Molev,” I said as he jogged across the yard and let us into the other house. “You know I hate this.”

He didn’t let up until he tossed me onto the bed. I bounced so hard my teeth clacked together.
