“Very true,” I said as a fey appeared beside my window. He smiled and nodded at me as I slowed to a stop.

“Um, you know I love your brother, right?” Rachel said.

“I do,” I said as I slowed. I glanced her way and saw she was looking out her window at the group of bare-chested fey running alongside us.

“Looking isn’t cheating, right?” she asked.

I chuckled and rolled to a stop just behind the vehicle in front of us. “I’d be really worried about your mental health if you weren’t looking.”

She glanced at me with her cheeks flushed. “I miss him.”

“I know. And I’ll be sure to tell him all about how you were blushing like crazy today when we see him again. How many pull-ups was he up to again? Seven?”

She grinned. “Last letter from him, he said he was up to twelve.”

“You’re going to pounce on him like Roni’s probably pouncing on some fey right now.”

The words were barely out of my mouth when the radio crackled.

“Steve, I’m going to kill you,” Roni said.

“We better get out there,” I said.

As soon as the door opened, I was bombarded with a chorus of “Can I carry you?”

“Can I have everyone’s attention for a minute?” I called loudly.

Every fey head swiveled in my direction. There had to be fifty, at least.

“There are over two hundred people who are going to need a lift over that wall, along with a lot of supplies. To keep things organized and moving quickly, I will ask that all fey willing to help carry humans and supplies over the wall wait by the wall.”

The swarm of fey surrounding the vehicles shifted to the wall, giving us all room to get out and start unpacking. While Rachel dealt with organizing our vehicle’s unloading, I jogged ahead to check on Roni.

Molev was just jumping back from her door when I arrived.

She got out, her booted feet landing with a thud, and scowled at me.

“He actually stopped me from getting out, Andie.”

The fey by the wall were all watching us closely.

“First impressions are important, Roni,” I said. “Let Molev talk to his people. He’s been gone for a long time. After that, I promise he’ll introduce you.” I looked at him. “Right?”

A big fey—they were all big, but this one was close to Molev’s size and had the same long flowing hair—jumped over the wall and landed not far away.

He and Molev stared at each other for a long moment. Then they came together in that same bone-crushing man hug Molev had used on Ben.

“Fine,” Roni said softly. “I’ll be patient and enjoy the scenery for now. But if I miss out, I’m coming after you.”

I glanced at her and saw she was staring at Molev’s back. Hopefully, whatever we needed to do to get settled wouldn’t take too long.

“I was beginning to worry,” the new guy said when he pulled back from Molev.

“I have been away longer than this. What caused your worry?”

The new fey’s gaze shifted to me. “We have time to talk about those matters later. I want to meet the female that kept you away.”

“I don’t have that much power, and he’s not that single-minded or shallow,” I said, holding out my hand. “I’m Andie.”
