“Shower.”

I nodded and went down the hall. The shower turned off just as I reached up to knock on the door.

“Are you all right?”I called through the door.“No new bites?”

The door opened.Once more wrapped in a towel, Molev looked at me.

“A few.But I washed them with soap.”

“Do you want any bandages or anything?”

“No.You look tired. You should go back to bed.”

I nodded.“That was the plan.I just wanted to check on you first.”

“Can I sleep by the wall again?”he asked as I turned to walk away.

“Yep.That space is all yours.”

He followed me to the bedroom and took his place while I stripped off my gear and set it on the floor near the bed.Standing there in the t-shirt and underwear, I hesitated to turn in.Roni walked in while I was standing there.

“If you want to switch,” she said.“I’m willing.”

“No, I’m debating staying up to change over the laundry.I wasn’t a fan of running outside without pants or being told I might need to leave them behind.”

“Ted said he’d switch them for us,” she said, going to her bed.

She turned on her side, facing Molev, and gave him a slow smile. He blinked at her and glanced at me.

Shaking my head slightly, I took my spot beside him, shielding him from Roni’s suggestive stare.

“Go to sleep, Roni,” I said, closing my eyes.

Heat radiated from Molev, which my still-freezing arms and legs appreciated.Sharing a bunk wasn’t new or something I minded. The extra heat was always nice.

That was my last thought before I went under.

The scent of food pulled me from a deep sleep. My jaw popped as I yawned and stretched then sat up in the dimly lit room.

Katie lay on the bed across from me, Roni’s arm draped over her waist.A bruise was forming on her forehead, and I winced on her behalf.

I glanced at my watch. It confirmed that it didn’t just feel like I’d slept for hours; I actually had.Nine of them.Real, dead-to-the-world sleep.Twisting around, I checked the empty space behind me.The bedding was cool to the touch, which meant Molev had been gone for a while.

Ignoring my growling stomach, I went to the laundry room and dressed in my clean clothes. When I emerged, basking in the scent of detergent rather than old sweat, I headed for the kitchen next for some food.

I found Derek at the table, his head bobbing as he tried to play solitaire.

“Go get some sleep,” I said.“I’ll take over for you.”

“Thanks.Patrick is keeping watch with Molev and Ted.I’m just supposed to make sure things stay quiet in here so everyone sleeps as long as they can.”

“I’m on it.”

He left to find a bed, and I helped myself to the stew that was simmering on the stove.I managed a bowl of it and a few games before Roni came down.

“What year is it?”she asked.

“You slept almost ten hours.Katie still sleeping?”
