“What is that yacht doing there?” I asked.

“That’s where our honeymoon will take place,” he said.

“Don’t tell me you own it.”

“We own it, my love,” he said.

“What about everyone else?”

“There’s a plane waiting to take them home once they are ready,” he said.

“Every time I think you could never outdo yourself, you always surprise me,” I said and hugged him.

“Milady deserves the best. Come, let’s bid farewell to your parents and everyone else,” Gabriel said.

After saying goodbye to my parents, Mei, and my relatives, we climbed on a boat, and off we went on our honeymoon.

The first thing I did once we stepped on the deck was turn toward my close ones and waved. I knew it would be long before I saw them once more. After our honeymoon, we planned on returning back to the castle in Bra?ov. Gabriel had much work to do, and I had to decide what I wanted to do with my future. As we entered our master suite, we were welcomed by a table full of fruits and desserts. I’ve never thought I could crave so much fruit as at that moment. As I feasted with two cheeks full, Gabriel lay on the petal-covered bed and admired my hamster-like behavior. “You know there is no need to rush. There is no one to take the food from you. I do not represent any competition.”

“What if you suddenly become an herbivore?” I said, with cheeks stuffed to the brim.

“Have you ever seen a panther change its diet?” he said and came close to me. “Devouring you has become my primary form of consumption.”

I almost choked. How could he speak such a thing with so much confidence?

“But not today,” Gabriel continued. “You still need sleep to function. You’re still just human.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I said, still struggling to swallow the sweet pulp of a melon.

“Do not worry, Milady. I will love you in any form I can get you,” Gabriel said as he approached me and grasped my arms. As he bore his eyes into mine, he kissed me desperately as if for the first time. “Finish chewing and off to bed.”

I looked at him like a disillusioned puppy.

“What’s wrong, my love?”

I couldn’t tell him.

He smiled radiantly, “You haven’t slept in twenty-four hours. We will have time to enjoy each other’s bodies for the next week and a half. I plan to do so this evening.”

“Okay,” I said and began taking off my dress.

Gabriel helped me undo the clasps and knots and hung the dress on a hanger. Then I put on a silky nightgown and jumped in bed.

“Good night, my love. See you in the evening.”

Chapter 20

The following morning, I woke up at the sound of splashing waves and seagull cries. I turned to my left and saw Gabriel sleeping. He did say he slept from time to time. The wedding must’ve been exhausting for him as well. Apparently, planning a wedding can tire even vampires. Was this really my life? Marrying the best man in the world and waking up next to him on a yacht for our honeymoon. If this wasn’t heaven, I didn’t know what was.

“Are you up already?” Gabriel’s voice resounded.

He looked adorable with his swollen face and disheveled hair. I didn’t get to witness his after-sleep demeanor in a long time, so I planned on taking advantage of the opportunity as much as possible. “I think we should stay in bed for the foreseeable future,” I said.

He hummed and said, “Interesting proposition. And what do you plan on doing in bed for the foreseeable future?”

“Well, I don’t know. We could snuggle, cuddle, and see who would be more fit to be the big spoon. You know, bed research,” I said.

“Hmm, I always believed bed research meant something else,” he said as he dragged me closer.
