He immediately removed his finger, sat back at his desk, and said, “Very well. But I still would like to request some information about Gabriel. At least tell us how to defeat him,” Mr. Iglesias said.

“That’s the thing you seem to not understand. He is undefeatable. The only way to kill him is if he lets you. He is vastly superior to anything you can imagine, and if I were you, I would stop pursuing someone who could exterminate you and all your people with one swift move.”

“If not to defeat, we could aim for a collaboration. His illegal art dealing would be forgotten if only he would agree to meet with us.”

“And why do you think such a strong being would want to waste their time to help meager humans? For the future of humanity? Be glad he didn’t decimate the entire human civilization. How about you take care of actual human issues and consider not poking the beast. My husband and I would be eternally grateful.” I rose from the chair and turned toward the door.

“Is he not a threat to humanity, then?”

“If there was ever any threat, you would’ve known by now.”

“I heard silver can hurt weaker vampires. What about your husband?” he asked.

“Mr. Iglesias, silver feels like a small scratch for him. It might slow him down but wouldnever hurt him.”

“Please call me Rafael.”

“No, I prefer Mr. Iglesias. Just like I prefer you to call me Her Majesty, Queen of the Undead.” I didn’t wait for him to bring his jaw back in place. I simply went out and straight to the campus. Hopefully, I wouldn’t be bothered by these guys again.

Once I arrived at the dorm, I entered Mei’s room. She spoke over the phone with whom I assumed were her parents.

“Okay, I’ll tell her,” said Mei. “Uhm, Uhm. Yes, Mom. I’ll continue to eat well. Okay. I love you too.”

“Did you ask your mom about what we talked about?”

“Yes, but she immediately figured it concerned you. She said the only rich, powerful guy I knew was your husband. Thanks, Mom,” Mei said. “But I didn’t divulge anything more than necessary. I just said you needed help to find sensitive information.”

“And what did she say?”

“She said you have to go to a psychic.”

“Your mom goes to psychics?”

“That’s what I thought at first, but then she told me her rich clients usually visited them for business purposes.”

“As in figuring out what move to make next businesswise?” I asked.

“Something like that. Mom said there’s a secret group of powerful psychics around the world. On the front, they work as business consulting companies, but if you know what you’re looking for, they can help on a deeper level.”

“So now psychics went corporate?”

“I guess. Oh, and Mom also said you need to go to the location of your root cause,” Mei said.

“So I must return to Romania?”

“It seems like it.”

“But where do I find them? Romania is not a small country. But I also would not want Gabriel to find out.”

“It does look like a challenge. Have you never met a psychic while living in Romania?” Mei asked.

“I did. Around five hundred years in the past.”

“It is difficult to imagine them keeping the business going for so long.”

“It is my only shot, and I must take it.”
