“Wait, wait. That’s too fast. Let me focus, at least,” I said.

Muma Padurii growled but halted her counting.

“Focus, Petra, you can do it,” I said to myself then I turned to Muma Padurii. “So I don’t have to say the chant out loud, right?”

“Two.”

“Fine, fine.” I closed my eyes and repeated the incantation Muma Padurii taught me. At first, I thought I failed once more, but when I opened my eyes, I found myself in a chamber filled with scrolls. “I did it. Yes!” I jumped in excitement.

I knew once I entered the secret chamber, Muma Padurii would leave, so I threw myself into studying every single scroll I could get my hands on. In each of them was written the name, age, and years every time traveler disappeared from and arrived to. I skimmed through most until I found a name I recognized. Gabriel needed to know about this.

After I recited the chant in my mind and returned to The Other Realm, I mounted my horse and galloped to our house in the village.

Inside, I found Gabriel lulling Athena to sleep. “What is wrong, my love?” he asked. You look like you saw a ghost.”

“I believe I have,” I said. “Look.” I showed him the scroll.

“It is not clear what I need to find.”

“Look at the first name on the list. It’s Elena, age eighteen, and look at the year. These are the exact name, age, and year my sister disappeared. My sister is alive, Gabriel. She’s in a different time.”
