She shoots me a glare, but it’s full of amusement. “Are you implying you know the kind of men I like?”

Well, there goes finding out how she feels about Gavin. “I’m only saying Gavin and I are different flavors.”

Mia cackles. “Different flavors? Well, since you’resofull of curiosity, I don’t have a type.”

“Is that so?”

She nods. “Not in physical appearance, at least.” She’s lying. I’m certain of it. “Exes excluded. I like men with good hearts. Someone who’s respectful and knows how to treat a woman. He has to accept me for who I am and be able to handle all of my needs.”

I pick up the script again, only so Mia doesn’t catch my face flush. She has absolutely no idea how much I’d love to handle all her needs.

“That rules Gavin out then,” I say to calm myself down. If my body temperature keeps rising, I just might kiss her again.

She scoffs. “It rules a lot of people out. Since we’ve determined I won’t be going to lunch with the other interns, I’ve prepared a presentation.”

“A presentation?” I repeat. Any arousal I was feeling dissipates.

She nods. “That’s how I like to present information.”

I huff. “Care to present it to me?”

“If you insist,” she says with an irritated sigh. She grabs the USB, slides it into her laptop, and fires it up. Setting the laptop down on my desk, she turns it to face me.

“Barcelona, Spain. Monaco. And in Italy, we have a few options. Milan, Rome, and Venice.”

I go through the PowerPoint presentation at my own pace, scanning through all the images she pulled of the various locations. I get why she has her eyes on these, but I’ve already come up with about a dozen reasons why they’re all wrong.

“These are all pretty overused,” I say, leaning back in my seat. It’s taking all my restraint not to pull her onto my lap. “Why not a more obscure city? Like Malaga, Spain?”

“Malaga’s regulations are too restrictive. Trust me. I considered all the smaller cities.” She taps the screen of her laptop. “The ones I picked appeal to a larger audience.”

She smiles, but I’m not an idiot. I know what a fake smile looks like. She’s been giving me those since I hired her, but she’s upped the amount she uses on me ever since our kiss. “Maybe the audience just needs to see what a new European city looks like in order for it to gain appeal.”

I rise and pinch the bridge of my nose. “It’s been two weeks, Mia. You have thismassivestack of folders the size of a fantasy novel, all forthreelocations?”

She crosses her arms over her chest. That wonderful fucking chest of hers. It’s such a shame I didn’t get to see what her breasts look like under that white, lacy bra of hers. It was just as hot as my fantasy of fucking her in her wedding dress.

“Five locations,” she corrects, snapping me out of my Mia-induced trance. “Carter, I’ve adjusted the locations hundreds of times already. These were the most practical choices.”

Carter. Apparently, she has the sense to keep things professional between us by pretending our kiss never happened, but she still refuses to be formal with me. It’s like she knows exactly how to send me over the edge.

“I don’t want this series to be like everything else that’s out right now,” I say. “I already fixed all the clichés since youveryannoyingly pointed out on your first day how bad they were.”

She wags an accusing finger at me. “I never said they were bad. We’ve already ensured the script is unique and fresh. I promise you, the locations will not sacrifice the individuality of the series.”

I cross over to her so we’re standing less than a foot apart. “I’m more seasoned than you,” I say, hardly caring about how much of an asshole I must sound. “I know firsthand how a bad filming location can water down the perfect script.”

Hell, I’m not even all that mad about the locations. They’re fine. We can make them work. What I’mreallymad about is her dedication to avoiding me without further explanation. It further drives away my theory of her being a gold digger.

It’s not that I think it’s a good idea to hook up with an employee. Especially in this industry, these types of situations can turn out really bad. I just can’t seem to fight my desire for this woman. Everything about her turns me on, inside and out.

Carter. Stop. You’re doing it again.

“Then why did you ask me to do this?” Mia says, raising her voice. “You should have done it yourself if you’re so certain which locations would be best for the series.”

“I asked you to do it because it’s your job to do what I tell you to do,” I snap. “You seem to constantly forget that I’m the one in charge here.”

“And if I refuse?” she asks.
