I laugh, satisfied with Gavin’s criticism.

“Thankfully, I don’t think she’d make a good fit for the leading role in this series,” Veronica says. “I’m sure if you attest to it, Carter won’t cast her.”

Gavin nods.

“How’s everything going with the costume selection?” Carter asks from behind my chair. He leans forward so his face is only inches away from both mine and Gavin’s. God, he doesn’t understand boundaries.

“We’ve picked out some good stuff so far,” Gavin says. “Well, mostly Veronica and Mia. I’m only here to chime in every now and again.”

Veronica huffs. “What are you talking about? You’ve been the most involved in this whole process.”

Gavin shoots a teasing glare at Veronica, his cheeks flushing a few shades redder.

Carter laughs and pats Gavin on the back. “If you’re not careful, I might have to move you over to costumes, too.” He rises and turns to me. “Mia, come into my office.”

My shoulders stiffen. “Alone?” I ask.

He nods and slides his hands into the pockets of his all-beige suit. “Yeah. Do you have an issue with that?”

“No,” I say sheepishly. I rise and follow behind him as he strolls over to his office. I can’t even enjoy the view of his broad back and perfect ass like I normally do. It’s all been tainted by Lisa’s insistent touching.

When we arrive in his office, he shuts the door behind us and heads over to his desk. “Did everything go well while I was out?”

I cross my arms over my chest. “Yep. Is that all you needed to ask me?”

He eyes me curiously. “No, we have a lot of work to do today. There’s still so much to solidify with the overseas filming. What’s wrong? Is something bothering you?”

I shake my head. “Absolutely nothing. What is there to be bothered over?”

Carter’s gaze lingers on me as he attempts to read my face, but I’m withholding all my anger and annoyance at him. Finally, he nods. “Okay. What do you think about casting Lisa Reese-Campbell for the leading role?”

Fight your rage, Mia.

I clear my throat. “I think she’s a terrible choice.”

A smirk crosses Carter’s face. He’s enjoying this a little too much. “Why is that?”

“Because Gavin thinks she’s a shit actress who couldn't even read the phone book if her life depended on it.”

Carter raises his brows. “Gavin said that?”

I shrug. “He said something along those lines.”

“Jeez, I was only joking. You eyeballed her pretty hard earlier. I don’t think she’s right for the part, but I didn’t think she wasthatbad during our last production.”

“I don’t eyeball,” I say. “I was only assessing whether her ass was hanging out of that short skirt of hers.”

Carter shrugs. “It looked pretty good to me.”

I rest my arms at my side and ball my hands into fists. “On second thought, there are a lot of fabrics I want to keep looking through. I’ll come back when I’m done.”

I turn on my heels and start for the door.

“When will that be?” Carter calls out.

“When I feel like it,” is the last thing I say before I slam the door behind me.
