I like the sound of that. Probably too much.

After we eat, our bellies filled to the brim with decadent food, we head out and start back for the villa.

“I really think the Casino de Monte Carlo is a good location,” I say.

We’re holding hands as we stroll toward our villa. The sun is setting, casting a delightful glow over the ocean just beyond the property. Everything about Monaco feels like a dream I never want to wake up from.

“We’ll have to get the paperwork done tomorrow,” Carter says, reminding me of the responsibilities we will be heading back to in a couple of days. “Amber will be in LA before us, so it’s best we take care of it before the casting starts in a few days.”

“Am I coming too?” I ask.

Carter nods. “Gavin and some others as well. I have a casting team in LA, so you’ll get to meet some new faces. Everyone will like you.”

I nudge him on the shoulder. “Even if they don’t, that would be fine. It’s not like I’m meeting your family.”

Carter wets his lips but doesn’t say anything. It’s too strange of a reaction for me not to notice. Did I say something to offend him?

When we arrive in front of the villa, he pauses as we approach the entryway. “Do you want to take a nap with me?” he asks.

I cover my mouth as I giggle under my breath. “It’s already getting too late for a nap. We stayed out longer than we meant to.”

He pulls me into his chest, his embrace warming me up as the evening air grows crispier. “I thought we were both under the impression that we wouldn’t be sleeping?”

“I never turn down the opportunity to sleep.”

“Trust me, I know.”

I give him a playful shove. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

He gives me a kiss on the lips. It’s fleeting but sends a shiver up and down my spine.

“It means I want you to sleep with me tonight.” He brushes his lips against mine. “You’re free to be as lazy as you please tomorrow morning.”

I tilt my head up and press my lips lightly against his. “Good, because I want to stay up late tonight,” I breathe.

I gasp when I feel Carter’s hands move from my waist to the curve of my ass, practically melting at his touch.

He takes a few steps forward until I’m pressed against the front door. As his lips sink into mine, I surrender to his strong embrace, his perfect lips, and the gorgeous backdrop of the ocean behind us.

It’s never bad with you.Carter’s words play back in my mind.

Right now, I couldn’t agree more.

Chapter 26

Carter

I’mhavingahellof a good time.

But I refuse to tell Mia that. She’ll only brush it off and tell me that I’m being corny. Anything to remind me that she has no interest in keeping this up once we get back home. It’s crazy that for the first time in my life, I want to open up to someone, and that someone is just brushing me off.

It’s our last day here, but I’m packing up the belongings that I won’t need for the remainder of our trip as Mia works on her laptop. It’s giving me something to do other than lay around and be bored while she works.

“The location information has all been emailed to Amber,” she says and closes her laptop shut.

She’s sprawled out on my bed wearing an olive-green halter dress. Her long hair is half-up with a black scrunchie holding it in place. Her newly sun-kissed legs are almost completely exposed, complimenting the shade of her dress perfectly. With the way she looks right now, we may not leave the villa for the rest of the night.

“Perfect,” I say, tossing a pair of unused socks back into my suitcase. “I guess we’re officially done with work while we’re here. We still have tonight before we head back home.”
