He turns and shouts, “She said yes!”

An eruption of cheers sound all around us. I’m caught in the magic of it, and the spontaneity of the proposal. From this moment on, we’re bound together. We’ll share all of our dreams, our love, and an unwavering commitment to each other. It doesn’t get better than this.

I came to this park alone, and I’m walking out hand in hand with my future husband. It really doesn’t get better. We walk together through the bustling Miami streets, too amped to go home. Instead we have lunch, then explore, going into small shops and finding new corners of a city I love. I laugh more than I’ve laughed in a long time. We even stop and dance when we hear a street band playing a lively tune, Hunter spinning me in circles. It’s a perfect day in our perfect life.

I’m happy we can have extraordinary moments in life, but revel in the perfectly ordinary moments as well. The more we do together, the more my memories come back, appearing in my brain like a movie reel, showing me snippets, and then exploding into full blown cinematic color.

I have memories of us playfully arguing over recipe ingredients, our competitive spirits fueling our connection. I can practically smell the aromas of our meals, our laughter ringing in my ears. How tragic for those who never gain their memories back. I remember walking hand in hand each night as we strolled along the beach, spotting animals playing and children building sandcastles.

I have a flash of picking up a seashell, running my fingers over the smooth surface, triggering thoughts of midnight-whispered secrets shared beneath moonlit skies.

In all of my memories of Hunter, he’s always touching me, his hand in mine, or on my back, or around my shoulders. I can hear the distant waves crashing along the shore and birds chirping in the sky.

All of these memories solidify the path we’ve been walking and bring music to the dance we’re sharing. It all leads to a future we’re meant to share. Even when I didn’t remember our love, I was drawn to him, pulled in his direction. Because he’s the yin to my yang. We truly are each other’s other half. We’ve shared many experiences, tender, vulnerable, funny, scary, and more. We’re always drawn together no matter how far apart we might get. We have a bond, and it’s one that can’t be broken. We have each other... and that’s more than enough for the rest of our lives.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Hunter

I wake up with a smile, excited for the day I have planned for Jasmine. She loved our trip to Fiji so much, I want to bring a bit of it back for her. I’m pretty impressed with my plans. Okay, if I’m being completely honest, I might’ve spoken to her bestie Ember and gotten some ideas, then called Mora to find the best place. But that’s all. I called them for advice but did all of the planning myself.

Once I told them my plans, they might’ve insisted on accompanying her, but still, I get some credit for coming up with the idea. It’s not easy coming up with plans to impress a fiancée that’s literally been all around the world and has an empire at her fingertips. I think I’ve done good. I’m about to find out.

I booked appointments at the spa for a full day of pampering, nails, toes, hair, massage, facials, the works. My pocketbook is a lot lighter, but when she comes home feeling like a queen, it will all be worth it. The spa staff oohed and aahed, saying I was certainly a keeper. They might’ve been buttering me up for better tips, but I don’t care. I’m feeling pretty good right now.

I turn to Jasmine and wake her with a kiss on the neck, my heart thumping as she groggily opens her eyes. “Good morning, beautiful,” I say. “I have a surprise for you so get your sweet little tushy out of this bed.”

“What?” she grumbles. Sometimes she wakes up ready to go, but it usually takes her a bit.

“It’s spa day. Your girlfriends are meeting you there.”

She becomes more alert at the mention of a spa. “Really?” She wipes the sleep from her eyes and gazes at me. Maybe I should’ve made the appointment for a little later. There’s no time for some morning delight now. My erection doesn’t realize this.Down boy!

“Yes, really. If you don’t get up right now, I’m going to forget about the spa and ravage you,” I warn as I run my hand along her naked thigh.

“Keep your hands to yourself, Sparks. You can’t promise a girl the spa then renege,” she says as she pushes me away and springs from the bed, completely comfortable in her nudity. My arousal pulses painfully.

“Tease,” I shout after her as she walks to the bathroom. She shakes her fine ass a few times... then firmly shuts the bathroom door. I lie back and groan as I hear the shower start. Now, I’m picturing her soapy and wet. It’s going to be a long day.

Jasmine emerges from the bathroom... still naked, but her skin’s flushed. I seriously consider calling to see if we can delay. I start to get up, and she giggles before running into the closet, her perfect breasts bouncing in a way that nearly makes me lose it.

“We have time for three minutes,” I call, and her reply is more laughter. Before I can even get up, she’s exiting the closet in a pair of sweats and a T-shirt. Beautiful. This woman is so dang beautiful.

“Where do I go?” she asks, her fresh scrubbed skin free of makeup, making her appear about seventeen instead of mid-twenties.

“You have a car waiting. Are you sure you don’t have three minutes to spare?” I’m hopeful. She moves toward me and my arousal twitches. It’s clear to see what she does to me through my sweatpants. She leans over me and gives me a kiss before she dances away.

“Can’t wait. The spa’s calling,” she says. “There’s oil in the bathroom.” With that little witchy remark, she leaves me. In less than a minute I’m alone in the condo regretting my life choices.

It takes a while for my body to behave. I have a lot to do while she’s gone for the day. I hit the road, on a mission. It takes a few hours, and several trips as I haul things back to our bedroom, but when I’m done, I look around in delight. I’ve transformed our bedroom into a pretty good replica of our time on the island.

Fresh flowers are strategically placed around the room, with petals on the bed. Candles are safely burning in glass containers, and soft music is drifting through the overhead speakers. Dinner’s warm on the burner plates, and wine is chilling in a bucket. I want to romance Jasmine every day for the rest of our lives. Sure, it won’t always be this elaborate, but we need to celebrate our engagement and our lives together. I never want to get used to being with her. I want our love to shine from now until eternity.

I walk out to our balcony to double check the table. It’s adorned with a white tablecloth, flickering candles, and a vase filled with jasmine and roses. The lights are dimmed, and the music is playing through the house, including out here. I’ve had to wait all day semi-aroused, but I have a feeling I’m going to feel this way for years to come when it comes to Jasmine.

Now I only have to wait. Ember texted that she should be home soon. I move to the living room and sit, closing my eyes and enjoying the soft music and peaceful atmosphere.
