“Without a doubt, sir. She’s the love of my life,” Hunter easily responds.

Gramps grins. “Then welcome to the family, boy. Let’s go celebrate with a glass of the finest Scotch.” Not a chance Hunter will turn this down. We finally make it inside the enormous mansion and head straight to Gramps’s den, our favorite place in the house.

The Scotch is pulled out and soon glasses are raised in the air. “To love and babies,” Gramps says, making all of us laugh. Of course he wants more babies. I shock everyone when I agree.

“To love andlotsof babies.” Gramps’s eyes sparkle and I see him swipe his cheek. It happens too fast for me to swear on it, but I know more than anyone what a big softie my gramps is.

We toast, then sit down for an expertly cooked meal. The conversation flows around the table, and I’m so happy to be home with my future husband sitting at my side. From here on out our lives will be entwined and we’ll do everything together. Yes, we can have time apart, but it’s not because I need it. I don’t need to be away from him for a single second. I love being with him.

We’ll have time apart with our loved ones because we’re a healthy couple that will do things together and separately. We’re confident in who we are and in our love for each other. Hunter laughs with the family as they share their Jasmine stories, throwing me under the bus for all of the trouble I’ve gotten into through the years.

“That’s because I have always been so independent,” I defend when a particularly bad story comes up.

“Yes, you’ve always been a one of a kind girl,” my gramps says.

“And we all love that about you,” my mother says.

“That’s one of the many reasons I love you,” Hunter whispers before kissing me on the ear, sending a shiver through me.

I look at this man, so thankful he’s here. I didn’t know I was looking for him, but now that I have him, I understand I was lost before. He’s my anchor in the storm, my calm before the rain, and my forever. He’s one of the good ones, and I’ll never forget it. I can’t wait to see what we’re going to do next.
