“Why not? You are single, aren’t you?”

I roll my eyes. Duh. I’m single and I’ll always be single. Commitment is not for me. I don’t get a chance to respond before Love Hill barrels into me. I stumble and Miller grabs hold of me to steady me before I fall.

“Get out there.” He nudges me forward, but I hold my ground.

“No!”

“Eden Spring,” Mrs. West calls from the stage. “Join the rest of the single ladies.”

I cross my arms over my chest and keep my feet planted. Unfortunately, I’m wearing heels today giving Miller the opportunity to push me forward despite my best efforts to become a statue.

“Eden! Eden!” The crowd chants as Miller places me in the center of the dance floor.

I glare at him. “You’ll pay for this later.”

He winks. “I can’t wait.”

Harmony and Soleil join me on the dance floor. “What are you two doing here?”

I know for a fact neither one of them is on the lookout for a partner. They hum and glance away. I open my mouth to ask them what’s going on but I don’t get the chance before the music blares.

While Juniper saunters to the front of the dance floor, I decide to make a break for it. I inch backward but Harmony and Soleil step closer until I’m sandwiched between the two of them with barely enough room to breathe.

“What the hell?”

“You’ll thank us later.”

I doubt it.

“Three. Two. One.” The crowd counts down and Juniper glances over her shoulder before she lobs the bouquet straight at me.

I hold up my hands to bat the thing away as I retreat. No. No. No.

Love Hill sprints toward me before shoving me out of the way. I stumble to the ground as she snags the bouquet. She raises her hands in victory. “I’m next! Who’s the lucky man?”

Juniper stomps to her and snatches the bouquet from her hands. “You weren’t invited,” she says to Love Hill before throwing the bouquet at me. It lands in my lap. “Stop fighting it.”

“Fighting what?”

She rolls her eyes before walking off.

Miller appears in front of me and offers me his hand. I glare at him for a long moment before I accept it and he helps me to my feet. “About that dance?”

“It should be my dance,” Love Hill yells.

A security man appears at her side. “Ma’am. This way please.”

She rakes her gaze up and down him before licking her lips. “I’ll follow you anywhere, hot stuff.” He frowns as he hauls her away. I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost. It is his job, after all. I bet Maverick pays his security handsomely.

The music starts up again. I groan when I recognize the intro toWicked Game.Chris Isaak isn’t the only one who doesn’t want to fall in love.

“Did you plan this music?”

Miller wraps his arms around me and pulls me close as he begins to sway to the beat.

“Not me.”

The humor in his voice has me glancing up at him. He tweaks my nose.
