“Tell me what I need to do.”

She slams her hands to her hips and I can’t help but notice those curves. Curves my hands have touched. Curves my hands long to touch again. Curves I will touch again.

“Stop helping me.”

I chuckle. “Most people say thank you.”

“I’m not morally obligated to thank you when I don’t want or need your help.”

“Darling, I’m a privilege, not an obligation.” I wink.

“It’s a good thing we’re outside since your ego wouldn’t fit inside a building.”

I wiggle my eyebrows. “I’ll show you what’s bigger than my ego.”

“Really? Dick jokes? Are you going to send me a dick pic next?”

“No need to send a picture when you can have the real thing.”

She huffs but I notice the blush spread from her cheeks down her neck. Her dress prevents me from following the blush further but I know her breasts turn a pretty shade of pink when she comes. My cock twitches at the memory.

I stalk toward her but stop before I invade her space. “I have an idea.”

Her eyes flare. I want to follow where her mind is going and we will – later. After we resolve her commitment issues because I’m not a man who sleeps around. I know what I want and I go for it. And Eden is what I want.

“What’s your idea?” she asks in a breathy voice reminiscent of the way she sounds when I’m moving inside her.

My cock begins to harden. I ignore it. Now’s not the time to lay Eden down in her garden and have my wicked way with her.Why not?I ignore my cock.

“You tell me why you’re afraid of commitment—”

She growls. “I’m not.”

I ignore her. “And I’ll explain more about why I want to expand the brewery.”

Her eyes light with intrigue and I know I’ve got her. I didn’t mean to tell her about my daddy issues the day of Juniper’s wedding but if I want Eden to trust me, I need to trust her with my deepest darkest secrets.

“Say I agree to this.”

I smile because I’ve got her now.

“After we spill our secrets, you have to promise to leave and let me get back to work.”

As much as I’d prefer to help her do all her planting, I nod in agreement. I’ll spend the time I allocated for helping Eden today on plotting ways to overcome whatever issues she discloses.

“You first.”

I glance around to make sure the gossip gals are nowhere in sight. It wouldn’t be the first time they spied on me and Eden and it wouldn’t be the last time either. Those ladies do love to spy.

“I already checked. They’re not around.” Eden sits on the ground and pats the spot next to her.

I inhale a deep breath and let it out as I lower myself onto the ground. This needs to happen I remind myself.

“As I said, I want to show everyone I can build a successful business without my father’s help.” I pause. “What I didn’t say is my father bullied me.”

She rears back. “What? Everything I’ve heard about Mr. Bragg indicates he was a cheater but otherwise a nice guy.”

Good old gossip vine of Winter Falls. Getting it wrong again.
