“I’m not your darling,” I hiss back.

“Then, let me remind you who you belong to, omega,” he says with a cold look in his eyes. Grabbing my arm, he starts dragging me down the corridor.

“Stop! Let go of me!” I shout, my voice echoing around the empty hallways as I use all my strength to fight him.

Within seconds, I realize how badly I’m failing. My pounding fist makes no difference to him. He doesn’t even look like he’s getting hurt. My courage crumbles as his strength easily overpowers me.

To my horror, he opens the door to a room. No, no, no, my mind screams at me.This can’t be happening to me again.

“Seth,” I desperately shout his name. “Seth, help me!”

“Stop resisting and obey!” he hisses.

“No,” I scream, digging my heels. “I won’t let you touch me again. Let me go!”

“Stop shouting, omega. There’s no one around to hear you.”

Tears stream down my cheeks. How could I let myself get into a situation like this again? Why couldn’t I have stayed stuck to Dad’s side? This hateful man would’ve never dared to lay his hands on me if he saw me with my father.

The small spark of hope that Seth lit in my heart is flickering. I can almost feel it dying as the alpha tugs at my wrist painfully.

Is fate not done punishing me?

The smell of ripe peaches, combined with a hint of vanilla and cloves, lingers in my nostrils as I watch Aurora hurry out of the exhibit room. It’s the same scent I picked up on Seth’s clothes yesterday.

Simon, my twin brother, slowly ambles toward me. Dressed in an identical tux as me, he looks like my spitting image. The few patrons who’re strolling around the room can’t help but stare at us, trying hard to pick up differences between our appearances.

“Did you catch her scent?” he asks the moment he reaches me.

“What are you talking about?”

“Aurora. She just walked out of the door without a backward look at me but boy, she smelledsogood.” Closing his eyes, he takes a deep breath. “I can still taste sweet peaches in the air.”

Surprise flickers through me. “Tell me, Si. Does her scent remind you of someone?”

“Not really...” He falls quiet as he gives it a thought. His sky-blue eyes, so similar to mine, widens as he stares at me. “It’s the same one we smelled on Seth!”

“Yep.”

“The scent on his shirt was much stronger though,” he says.

“I’m sure Aurora’s using a de-scenter,” I say, trying to put a puzzle in place. “There’s no way an omega will roam around without drenching herself in that stuff.”

“But, we still caught her perfume.”

I nod as my mind tries to work through the strange coincidences.

“Seth has been hiding from us for almost a week,” Simon says slowly. “We were in the middle of the most important mission of our lives but he chose to abandon everything and disappear. He’s the most dutiful among the three of us but he did it anyway. I couldn’t believe Seth chose to pull such a stunt right after we raided the Black Widow.”

“Exactly. It’s not like Seth to be so irresponsible.”

“Do you think he was with her?” Simon asks confusedly. “Aurora’s a beautiful omega but Seth isn’t someone who’ll shirk his duties to go panting after a woman.”

“His clothes were drenched in Aurora’s scent,” I say, trying to figure out an explanation for Seth’s unusual behavior. “He had to be with her.”
