My gaze focuses on the hand he’s holding. Her wrist looks so frail, I’m afraid it’ll crumble in his hold.

“We’ve got to find out what happened between her and Seth.”

“Yeah, we’ve got to figure out the mystery of their relationship.” Simon takes off his jacket and slips under the sheet on Aurora’s other side. “I never imagined a woman would get so happy to see our brother’s face that she’dcry.”

I snicker, thinking about our eldest brother who’s built like a tank. He’s taller and broader than us. Combined with his serious and brooding nature, he looks formidable to the world but to us, he’s the same kid who was forced into a pink bunny costume by our mom.

A soft moan drops from Aurora’s lips. Looking down, I realize she’s thrown her arm around my waist and has scooted closer to me.

Warmth spreads through me at her innocent touch.

“Sweet dreams, Princess,” I whisper, leaning down to kiss her head.

“Thank fuck she doesn’t hate Seth like we’d feared,” Simon says after a while.

“There’s no way she rejected him,” I say, thinking of her reaction when we showed her our brother’s photos. “She trusted us the moment we proved that we’re related to Seth.”

“Seth is the key, huh?” A thoughtful expression spreads on his face.

“Let’s talk to her tomorrow and find out what happened between them.”

Simon hums and slides a gentle arm around her shoulders. “Remind me to run an investigation on Kelso too,” he mumbles, closing his eyes. “That bastard definitely has some links to the Black Widow and the people supporting them.”

I nod as Simon relaxes beside her. It’s not long before he dozes off to sleep too.

I stay awake longer, guarding them both.

Kelso won’t dare to come back but you can never trust assholes like him. I keep a firm hold on my gun while I watch Aurora sleep. No one will hurt her while I breathe.

Aurora

A wide yawn escapes me as I stretch my legs under the sheets. Keeping my eyes closed, I sigh, thoroughly enjoying how warm and toasty it feels. I’d have gone back to sleep if my throat didn’t feel so dry and scratchy.

Wanting to grab the bottle of water I usually keep at my side, I open my eyes a wink.

To my surprise, a strange ceiling comes into my vision. As my sleep fades away, memories from last night come rushing back to me.

One of Jake’s associates found me at the party last night. Taking advantage of the deserted hallway, he’d wanted to drag me inside a room.

Unable to think clearly through the haze of sleep still clinging to my senses, I bolt into a sitting position. The sheet falls off me, revealing my crimson dress. Not a single tear mars the skirt and the long sleeves.

My hands pat my hair next. The pins I’d used to keep the strands in place are still there. It doesn’t feel like anyone’s touched me.

Nothing happened to me, I realize as relief floods through me.

I’m about to let out a sigh when my gaze falls on the two slumbering men on my either side.Simon and Oliver...My mind easily repeats their names.

They’d been the ones who stood up against the man who wanted to hurt me again. More of my memories rush in as the haze of sleep lifts off me.

One of the brothers held me in his arms, whispering comforting and soothing words, while the other fought against the asshole who wanted to hurt me. At one point, the bastard even pointed a gun at them, but he was no match for them.

Since they’re sleeping, I inch closer to take a good look at them.

Simon and Oliver are identical twins. They have the same nose, the same jawline, and the same bow-shaped luscious lips. Even their dark hair is cut in the same style. They’ve taken every measure to make it impossible for people to tell them apart.

A sliver of fascination wounds through me as I study their features carefully.
