Wynonna glances at Irina and says, “Big shock. She’s buddies with June.”

Irina sees my confusion. “My sister-in-law is also a bully.”

“Oh.”

Wynonna nods. “They’re a bitch wolf pack, creating havoc around town and picking off the weak prey.”

“Is this a slashed-tire situation?” Selene asks and smiles at Yazmin.

“Maybe,” Wynonna adds and then looks at me in an overly direct way. “Irina heard about your shop from our friend Hobo.”

“Oh,” I reply as my mind returns to the handsome wild man. “He’s trying to help me stay in business.”

Wynonna smirks at the others. “Well, we shouldn’t meddle.”

“No, we shouldn’t,” Callie insists to her stepdaughter. “Not at all.”

“Of course,” Wynonna says and waves her hand in front of the other woman’s face. “We’re just here to enjoy a new McMurdo Valley business.”

“How did you meet Hobo?” Rosemary asks.

“He walked into the shop, bought a few things, and said he would tell his friends. He was my first real customer,” I explain and notice them glancing knowingly at each other. “How do you know Hobo?”

Wynonna studies me. “Hobo’s been my brother’s friend since they were kids. We’re very protective of him.”

I have a million questions. Knowing Tommy’s secrets would make my fantasies more exciting. Of course, I’d rather get the details from the man himself. However, I’m still tempted to ask where I can find him.

Except I don’t know if he’s in a relationship. What if my interest stirs up trouble? I have enough problems without a pissed girlfriend coming after me.

“He’s been very helpful,” I say rather than ask about Tommy. “I’m glad he has good friends.”

My words are generic enough to win a frown from Wynonna who glances at Callie. They share another facial-reaction conversation. The others don’t seem as bothered.

“Where are you living?” Wynonna asks.

“In Velma Wolner’s guesthouse.”

“Where did you live before that?”

“Vegas.”

Wynonna gives me the same look most people do when they learn I grew up in what they view as a trashy tourist spot.

“Well, you’re here now,” Landry says when the Vegas information dampens the good mood. “Irina, Selene, and Yazmin are all new to the area.”

I look at the three brunettes who nod in unison.

“Wynonna took us under her wing,” Selene says and smiles at her sister-in-law. “We started going out together for girl time.”

Wynonna studies me. “Do you know about Kourtney?”

“Is she a friend of Kendra’s?”

“No. Kendra’s younger. She came up after our crew. I doubt Kourtney’s ever spoken to Kendra.”

“Who is Kourtney, then?”

“Hobo’s sister,” Wynonna says and smirks at Callie.
